Congratulations! It's a really good branch. I have no idea about VIT categories and the courses over there, you could talk to a student from there, they'll be able to help you better. Regardless, I picked MIT over VIT when I would've had to pay the same amount of fees. DSE is a newer branch whereas CCE is a lot more established. But if you don't like communication subjects, which are tend to be a little hated(I'd recommend you go through some books to get a rough idea after looking at the curriculum), see if you like them or you'd be more interested in DSE which has subjects that are a little more interesting.

Hey, as someone who is currently pursuing CCE at MIT, after giving up CSE at VIT, I think I can answer this for you. The coursework of CCE is pretty rigorous, and is very up-to-date with the skills required. Extracurriculars at MIT are great too, with lots of student clubs offering opportunities for debate, drama, entrepreneurship ideas, dance and pretty much anything you could think of. Overall, it is a very well-rounded college with rigorous academics along with good extra-curriculars, decent hostels and hostel in-time. For me personally, the no-go for VIT was the fact that their intake of students is usually more than twice as much as MIT, which is also why it's much more difficult to get a good branch at MIT easily. MIT also has a much more balanced ratio of North and South Indians which made it easier for me to adjust. The environment at VIT is a lot more conservative than the one at MIT, which takes away your freedom in terms of clothing, in-time for boys and girls, being able to go out of campus frequently, etc. The placement statistics are pretty much the same for both. Overall I would say that CSE is obviously the better branch if branch is all you're looking at. But in terms of college environment, MIT is undoubtedly better.

@saranyaghosh2003
4 ай бұрын
You'll need to learn everything useful by yourself. The curriculum for CS is the same everywhere, Tier-1 college or Tier-3, India or abroad, pretty outdated. But it's vital to start from somewhere and that's what a college education in CS gives you. Whether or not you should be taking lower branches is not something that I'll be able to tell you. I won't highly recommend that atleast in MIT because the fees is exorbitant. You'd much rather want to study what you're studying than wishing you didn't have to. And hope that if things don't work out you can atleast go in your own domain of education. For exploring and learning on your own, a flexible college would be more beneficial. MIT doesn't give you a lot of free time, not that there's none at all but fewer people are able to utilize it properly. I know several of my batchmates who've gotten into top companies but they're really hardworking. For an average person, academics and staying alive takes up all your time. If you ultimately decide to come here, make sure you know what you're signing up for. All the best!

It becomes tougher if you're not interested in it. I wouldn't especially recommend MUJ personally because I don't think it's worth it. But between the two of them, really depends on your career goals, ambitions and college life expectations.

The academics are pretty decent because the mech department is one of the best across the country. Plus the extra curricular activities in the form of student projects are fantastic avenues for learning. I'd highly recommend if you're passionate about aero and want a build a career in that field. Thanks a lot! IT and CCE have pretty much the same subjects. They're under the same department (ICT) so there's hardly any difference of courses in second year. Third year onwards CCE is going to have communication related subjects more than IT. Look at the course curriculums of both subjects, they're almost the same thing, even CSE has a lot of similar subjects. IT has a higher cutoff than CCE hence I picked IT, I also had more friends there. Plus I'm glad I don't have CCE because I hated the communication related subjects, they were a pain.

If you're interested in electronics then it would be a good choice. If not at all and if you're someone like me(you hate electronics), look for other options. You're allowed to sit for CS jobs even if you're in an unrelated branch. The average package for core branches might be around 9-10 LPA but I think I'll have to fact check that. The GPA needed to upgrade to CCE(which was the last CS branch in my year) was around 8.8 so that is simple to get, not easy tho don't confuse those terms. If you study you'll get those grades. The next point is just a recommendation and not a like a binding thing or something. I know several people from KIIT (mostly family friends, I'm Bengali, the college is full of people from the East and all). It's really not a bad option to consider if you're getting CSE there. If you don't want electronics at all, I wouldn't recommend taking that. CPS is a new thing so I don't know how it will play out, a lot of people are considering that to be a good choice just after the last CS branch so it may turn out to be a good option. I'd say if you get any CS branch or CPS, max to max, go for it. That is if you have a problem studying electronics. If you don't mind the branch, then other things could fit you too. Till EEE most companies let you sit for CS roles. Then fewer companies let all branches apply. After this the decision is yours.

VIT offers the same kind of placements like MIT but their intake is fivefold which makes it very competitive even on campus to get a good offer. Literally everything is a lot more stringent there, MIT provides a lot of freedom which can be put to good use. Finances are a debate for the person committing to the college. If they can afford to pay the tuition fees and work hard, using the college resources, they'll be able to get a good return. The same stands for VIT. @@saranyaghosh2003 Thank you, also, I'm currently in the state of Madhya Pradesh and Udupi is 34 hours away from my city whereas Jaipur is just 13 hours away plus I don't have any direct transportation to either Manglore or Udupi but for Jaipur, I have plenty of transportation support. Can you tell that which one would be better and worth for BBA campus among the Manipal Mahe or Manipal Jaipur? Please consider the following points while the evaluation, the opportunities and accomodation, easement of reach to the university, language barrier if there's any, social life and placements. Thank you for responding.

I'll try looking into all these points. But all things considered, Manipal is much better than Jaipur anyday, atleast for engineering in my opinion. I'm not sure how both would compare for other programmes but I'm willing to bet that Manipal has better opportunities for every course. So I don't think the distance should be a deciding factor, especially in the case where Jaipur is one level lower than Manipal in all important metrics like academic curriculum, student body, campus life and associated opportunities.

Nope, I'm at home. I recorded this the day before I left for vacations. Managing time for extracurriculars is difficult but not impossible. Really takes a lot of hardwork and motivation to be able to work consistently and not fail in your courses and maintain that damn 75 percent attendance.

how good or bad is manipal jaipur? what is your branch?
@saranyaghosh2003
Жыл бұрын
It's pretty okay from what I've heard. The rules are a lot more lenient, like the attendance policy and all so you'll probably get a lot more leeway if you don't go to classes and work on your own. It's also easier to score, easier to get a higher CGPA. But the fees is higher and return on that not as great as the main campus.

@@saranyaghosh2003no worries btw any idea about mit bangalore like would you recommend someone to go there for cs?
@saranyaghosh2003

I don't really recommend that. It's only the third year of intake and the campus is also mostly under construction. The curriculum is the same and managed by the same administration and faculty as Manipal but since it's so new, I'd be hesitant to enroll there.

I have no idea what counselling round is going on right now. But if you haven't appeared for the test, you won't be able to enroll yourself in this academic year.

Hi, I haven't been able to get accurate figures but by my guess, combining core jobs and mass recruiters who've taken EEE people, the average might land around 5-6 LPA.

It's a good branch! A little new yes, but promising. The curriculum is really interesting with a variety of subjects in different fields. It doesn't come under the CSE department but it's a CS related branch. Fun fact: I had originally taken admission in the DSE branch only before shifting to IT.

Upto you. I did that because DSE was a lot newer for our batch and IT has been established for a while now.
@saranyaghosh2003

At that time we didn't have any placement statistics for DSE because ours was only the second batch at had been offered that option. But now what I've been hearing is that some companies didn't let DSE sit for their tests, only the core ones like CSE, IT and CCE were allowed. DSE is a pretty good branch in it but if you have the rank for IT, you may want to consider it. I did that's why I switched.

@saranyaghosh2003

It isn't bad because it falls under the mechanical branch which is one of the better ones. But it's harder to find internships and placements in India for this field.

I asked a couple of people, they've said that it's a promising branch, but you need to go for higher studies and preferably abroad for better opportunities. You also shouldn't rely on the professors much and learn all the softwares by yourself(Arduino, CAD, keil). I think MIT has one advantage with its massive number of student projects which all build physical machines. That is an amazing learning experience and a fantastic addition to your resume.
