One point overlooked by most people about retirement myself included is the psychological impact of retirement. You will find that you may question your identity as before you were a contributing member of the family and society , what is your role now ? It’s critical to start planning your new role in advance for your own peace of mind when retirement starts. Don’t underestimate how important this will be in the future and how much it will affect how you and your family accept and enjoy your new identity in the household and the larger society around you .

@ralger same as from 0 to 18 year old. 18 years of not contributing? We have to retire to give space the newer generations.

Hiya Jim. I'm one of your new subscribers. I saw your Day 22 video on my feed and since I'm on day 13 I decided to give it a watch. I watched the next video and saw the similarities in our lives. Like you I worked 12 hr. shifts. Luckily after 20 years of working there we got a plant manager that put a stop to that silly stuff. Took me 6 months before I was able to sleep through the night. I had to wait till I was 60 to retire because the company reneged on health insurance for life and private insurance is crazy expensive. Still trying to wrap my head around this whole retirement thing but I've been told it takes about a year to feel comfortable in this new way of living. Hope you have a long and fulfilling retirement. Edd

@@EddH64 thanks for following! Hopefully I can be of help. Companies changing the rules for retirees is not surprising but it’s an awful slap I. The face.

All good points. Figuring out health insurance is huge if you retire early. It will probably be your biggest expense if you don’t.
