All those guards you compared Jamal with that are getting to the FT line much more than him have one thing in common. Never got seriously injured before like Jamal did. Before ACL injury he was not hesitant at all to attack the rim like he is now. Also, he is not as athletic, so even when he makes those type of moves, usually they end badly with bunch of blocked shots rather than fouls because he is not as qucik/agile as he was.

My issue with that contract isn't necessarily with Murray, its that the Nuggets will have 3 guys for around $140 million, and 2 of them can't stay healthy in Murray and MPJ. Then add in AGs next deal that will likely be $35m, he is more valuable than MPJ is to me by far, and you're around $175 on what is likely a $200m 2nd apron on the cap. So then you look at Braun for $5m, Watson at $4.3m, Holmes at $3.2m and Strawther at $2.6m for a total of $15m added to the $175m above is $190m for just 8 guys. So you have to basically sign 7 undrafted rookies to fit under that $10m each for just over $1m and pay to trade away Nnaji, Pickett, and Tyson because you cant afford them or go into the 2nd apron which takes 1st round picks they traded away till 2031. Also means they can't use the MLE which Saric is on or keep Westbrooks vet minimum deal past this year. So you're betting on Jokic carrying them, Murray and MPJ staying healthy, and Gordon past 30 also staying healthy? To go with Braun, Watson, Holmes, and Strawther who would need to make big jumps by next season and pray a couple of undrafted kids can contribute if anyone is injured? This new cap means you can only have 1 bad salary before you lose a lot of depth and the Nuggets have MPJs bad salary on the books, which he recently said was distracting him from the game of basketball. So MPJ or AG is gone likely by the trade deadline, or Denver risks losing AG for nothing.

It's also a garbage contract. Dude has already burned arguably 3, but not arguably 2, years of Jokic prime already. Dude can't run a bench unit and looks terrible when Joks not on the floor. Unironically he was hardly better than Reggie Jackson running the second unit. Dude hasn't played over 65 games in FIVE YEARS, and 2 of those he was just straight injured for the season. Hes injury prone, and already looks to be slowing down due to those injuries. Hes also the first player in NBA history to be given two max contracts without ever making an all star team. There's no other team in the NBA, especially under the new cap, who would even think about giving Murray $50m a year. Its a joke, and the Nuggets have burned a top 10 player all time's entire prime strapping him to a #2 who should be a #3. Jok will never play with another true all star, absolute failure team management. Also that whole "playoffs merchant" shit is fake and really didn't show up last season. Dude had one of the worst volume shooting playoffs in NBA history, has no burst, nothing.

I think there's a lot to unpack here. Obviously, he has a really high ceiling, but his psychology might be shaky. He has had times he's really zeroed in in the playoffs, but last year, or the olympics or a lot of the regular season he has been worrisome. Some of that probably has to do with injuries, but that is also an issue with him. And he is not great without Jokic, despite the small sample size of games where Jokic didn't play where he was good. He's had a terrible time running the offence while Jokic is resting. All in all Denver had to pay him because of what he can be, and I think Russ being there might be a great influence both in pushing him, but also taking pressure off of him running the bench unit. Really hoping for another chip/

he was so bad in the playoffs last year, and has not played more than 65 games per season in 5 years, with significant injury history. you just can't hand out max to players who can't stay healthy in the era of 2nd apron. See Kwahi. It doesn't even matter if you're a top 5 player in the league. if you're injured half the season, that hard caps your teams success.

He has had his series no doubt, but you can't have multiple overpaid players with today's cap. AG or MPJ is likely gone by the deadline or they lose AG for nothing, and if they try to keep all 4 of the top 4 they'll only have $25m about to stay under the 2nd apron. Who do you pay to get rid of, on top of being unable to use the MLE because it's likely too expensive.

My issue with Jamal is that he got a issue with understanding went to switch it up and just stop relaying on jump shooting. Like surely you can the human touch, but if those nights where the shots aren't going in i want him to identify that, adapt his game and start attacking the basketball and look for those free throws. Get and take the easier shots and one he get himself going off that he can go back to shooting to see if he revived his flow. Jamal is all star, but he's just bad adapting his game mid way and is bad taking what the game is giving him. You see Jokic try some 3's. Didn't go in?. Cut it off and attack the basket. If the basket is rough that night he adapt and start taking mids and 3's. Jamal just need to learn adaptation.

The Nuggets had no other option. If they don't resign him, they are still over the cap and can't sign anyone. If he is cooked, then they can't trade him for value. The Nuggets just need Murray to get healthy, and ball out. If he doesn't or can't, they lose that value in any scenario.

Well... We'll see, I suppose. I usually like your videos and agree with you on most things - however, I've lost my faith in Jamal during the past 15 months. I was rooting for him for years and wanted him to really become that "2nd star" we all hoped he'll be. But, the past 15 months told me something about him that makes me think he'll never get there. He came to the season completely unprepared, out-of-shape, overweight... and with ZERO positive change in his attitude (watch his pressers over the years and you'll see an arrogant, big-headed child). He thought he'll get in shape by playing, but he's just NOT that material - and injuries ensued. Never got in proper shape, was always completely exhausted in 1st qtr, and lost all his quickness and speed. And his shooting followed. Between DNPs, restricted minutes, poor plays when available... his "game" completely disappeared. The way he played in the POs and in Paris were just a continuation of a steep trend of degradation - ending with a CLEAR g-league profile/contribution. I hope you're right. I'm not betting on it, but I hope you're right. Jamal has mental and character issues - and I'm not sure that he can fix them in short 2 months. Or ever.

You get it, man. Dude doesn't have the right mentality and I think he bought into the hype about "playoff merchant." I also think he's kind of abusing the position he and the Nuggets organization is in. There is not a single other team who would even think about giving Murray $50m, ESPECIALLY in the new cap. Its an absolute tragedy that Jokic entire prime will be strapped to this dude, and Jok will never play with another true all-star. Just brutal. He has everything to be a top 10 (and not 10) player all-time, but he'll never get there due to team management. Murray is the first player in NBA history to get 2 max contracts while not making an all-star team. The first one. All this coming off a season he was out of shape and it led to him having built up injuries and throwing YET ANOTHER season of Jokic prime, making it three seasons now. To make it worse he's playing terrible and ends up throwing shit on the court and at refs during the game. That attitude is because hes an egotistic dude who doesnt work hard, and ofc is rewarded with $50m a season. If Jok wins another ring, fans will never understand how monumental an achievement that would be with this dude as his number 2. Again, tragic.
@stanislavstef

@@daddyfuse50 yes. all true. Nuggets owners/FO and the puppet GM are wasting Jokic's prime. Just throwing it away. TBH - they insulted Jokic, and us fans, at the end of the last season with LIES like "when you have the best player on the planet, you have to go for it" (kroenke) and "im the steward of Jokic's prime" (booth). They LIED to him, they LIED to us. It's so disappointing that Jokic is in this franchise. But, I'll try to be optimistic. Who knows - maybe Jamal will mature and figure it out quickly - and become what we all hoped he'll be. Maybe... Slim chance, but maybe. @@stanislavstef you're in the exact same boat as me, and I think nba fans are gonna be shocked that RW looks great with Jokic. Jokic is a much better playmaker and floor general than Bron, but NBA fans really don't get that yet. I think he'll have a solid season and will run a second unit much better than Murray. Couldn't agree more with the Kroenke and Booth statements too, but tbf to them that new CBA is rough. I also think Booth was about to play hardball with Murrays contract like he should have, but Malone threw a fit about it and so he caved. Just unfortunate all around, and most Nuggets fans are too emotional about Murray to be honest about it
@stanislavstef
21 минут бұрын
@@daddyfuse50 yeah, I agree. About the CBA - owners and GMs were in discussions about the new CBA (with NBA) for over 18 months... They KNEW what's coming at the end of the championship season. They KNEW it, as small markets were ADVOCATING for it. So, there's simply NO EXCUSE for Kroenkes and Booth (in fact - it seems that Kroenkes are getting ready to SELL Nuggets at $3B in profit... just pay attention till all-star week). So, that's about that. If you're right about Malone - I can perfectly understand the guy. His roster is getting decimated year after year and the idiot GM would like to play with little that's left!? On purely MONEY BASIS!? If Booth/FO made a move to TRADE murray - that would be respectable - at least it's a BB and Business move. Trying to save few bucks in addition to losing KCP (and BB and JG and RJ and and) is just PATHETIC. (BTW - I'd never give Jamal the max contract - he simply doesnt deserve it, but that's another topic). But, my question to you: My opinion about Owners/FO/GM is very clear I believe - but the biggest disappointment to me is the Nuggets "media" and the fanbase. I believe that if that ecosystem excerted PRESSURE on Owners/FO/GM - things might've happened differently - but they all were toeing the "party line"... I get it - most of them (media- e.g. characters like mares and his crew and such) are amateurs on a minimum wage and what little Nuggets toss them is a lifesaver - but that's who really betrayed Jokic and the team. What do you think?
