Bought it before I watched this video just today and safe to say this is a tad better update than my ES1LSD Ninebot which broke down because I was silly enough to ride it in the hail storm. 8 months of on road off road any road fun with that one, now this really feels like a more polished refined iPhone esque product. As a fairly intermediate electric rider, I feel that despite the high price, I got this for a great deal at my local JBHIFI that took $500 off the $1,700 Price. Click and collect. Really is torque, it shook me a little bit as I was getting used to the tighter steering and more power in both wheels not to mention the power to go uphill at full speed and without the secret speed mode being unlocked. I was scared stiff when I first accelerated in speed 2 I immediately toned it down to 1. This thing punches and accelerates smoothly. Going down hill with a heavy bag in tow I had to be mindful of my steering and balance as this is bottom heavy with a light stem making it Awkward to steer if you have a loaded bag on it. It is missing the nine bot hook which held a helmet or shopping bag in place. Apart from that wooha I went as I dashed off for my 1st ride.

I prefer the look of the M365. And let's not forget the M365 has the biggest modding community of any scooter. People have made suspension, alternative lock mechanisms, 10' tires, additional dashboards, etc. It also has more room for battery and controller mods. All this for less money. You can probably get a Ninebot G30 for that price.

Unfortunately it is now looking like mid-2023 before the UK considers updating current legislation to legalise these things. Yes, that's another 2 years while our e-scooters sit idle as paperweights.

The two outstanding features of the Unagi are that (1) it is beautiful ( like you, Eilis ) and ( 2 ) is very light weight / easily portable. If you start to add bigger wheels, front and rear suspension, and bigger batteries for greater range, then you could end up with something nearly twice the weight, like my InMotion S1. So, be careful what you wish for ! I think, in addition to the elegance of it’s design, the Unagi is close to perfect for “ the last mile commute “.

Dual motor E500 is the one to get if you anticipate riding where there are hills. Single motor is fine for flat lands but you will be walking the E250 up hills.

Nice review! Though in the market now within the same-ish price bracket, Ninebot Air has better portability; ETwow GT has same weight with suspention and more power; and Vsett 8+ has dual motor thats more than 2x powerful. Unagi looks nice, but perhaps not the best for London roads.

Love e scooters and this is a good review, but you can’t ignore that they are illegal in the UK. If you get involved in an accident you’re going to be in a world of trouble. I think it should be mentioned in the review. I really hope they get legalised in the UK soon but can’t really see how they can be recommended at the moment.

The Unagi ES500 (dual motor) scooter is TERRIBLE compared to my Xiaomi. Forgetting the price difference of Xiaomi costing a fraction of the Unagi. The only plus on it is that it climbs hills much better than the Xiaomi. The minuses are (1) feels much heavier than Xiaomi, (2) very rough ride to the point of unbearable when going on NYC roads (Xiaomi doesn’t have suspension but its inflated tires absorb most small cracks in the road), (3) no cruise control (in a $1000 scooter?), (4) no drum brake? (I really like Xiaomi’s dual braking feature when it activates both electronic & drum brake when you press the drum brake). The “no cruise control” and the “real rough ride” is a deal breaker for me so I’m returning it after 1 day of commuting with it. I’m going to look at UScooter GT/TWOW - everyone keeps raving about it! I’m really looking for a Xiaomi that would fly up hills like the Unagi and be as light as possible.

When Eilis said it was from the former CEO of Beats Music it all made sense :D If they follow the same marketing model as the one of the Beats headphones, they'll pour millions into advertising the scooter as a "unique", "minimalistic", etc. product while offering subpar performance for a premium price :D

FFS just do the review instead of editing in stupid clips from painfully bad and juvenile TV shows. That way this video could have been at least 4 minutes shorter and we could still have gotten the information. If you want to do comedy, start a comedy channel.
