Nice to meet you. I'm here by way of Brandy Jackson. You didn't disappoint either. I would have never picked this bag to make. The stock photo says no for me but you made it cute and fun. Love the bag and have had the pattern for years. I bought all the Swoon patterns when they had the bundle. I'm about to cut one out in vinyl but wanted to ask a couple of things. When you put the peltex in the pink one at the end, dd you glue it in before top stitching? Secondly have you considred working out how to do a drop in lining and add the flap as a separate piece live some of the Shamballa bags are done?
@LuvLolaLooks
8 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you for checking out my channel! I actually have not don't it as a drop in, but that would certainly work! No, I don't use glue for the stabilizer for this bag because everything fits so snugly. I haven't thought of attaching the flap the Shamballa way because this way is easier & faster to me, but that way would work as well.

Nope. To be very clear, the lining is wrong side facing out. The bag exterior is right side facing out. If you don't do it that way, you'll end up with the wrong side showing on your finished bag. Hello Lola. Love your tutorials! I just wanted to know if the Alligator Aussie Vinyls should be interfaced for making handbags, and can this fabric be sewn on a semi industrial home machine. I have a Juki 2010 TL Q. Thanks, Teresa.
@LuvLolaLooks
Жыл бұрын
Hi Teresa! This specific vinyl was very stiff! I have used many other alligator embossed that were much easier to sew with, I would even say on a domestic. THIS ONE, I don't recommend. At least not on a pattern like this where the bag is so small; it's gonna be hard to get that final topstitch. Now, I have never owned nor sewn on a Juki, so I honestly can't speculate on whether it could handle it or not. But just know this specific vinyl is tough. And thank you so much for checking out my tutorials. ❤️ This was the first one I ever made, so it was a little all over the place lol smh. They've gotten better😊

Hi! Typically you can leave a hole for turning a bag wherever you prefer. I think you should try it and see how it works. I've heard people say they've done a drop in lining for this pattern as well.

Love the video! Love your class in making the bag and keeping it real and entertaining. Can’t wait to make mine! Question though. What weight thread did you use on this? Tex 45 or 70?

Hi Lola just found you love your creations so much! Can I ask what industrial do you recommend? The more affordable the better. Thanks!

Hi Carolyn! Thank you so much for stopping by my channel! Honestly, the machine I have is the first industrial I've owned, so I'm not quite qualified to recommend much lol. But, I did a lot of research before I purchased. Creative Bag Making on Facebook has A LOT of experienced bag makers that have given lots of suggestions, you should join that group and ask that exact same question. Also, you need to write down what you're looking for in a machine, because there are so many options. Jukie Junkies is another Facebook page where you can get a lot of information. Good luck finding the machine of your dreams!

One more question sorry? Can you add the stabilizer before you sew it together would that be easier or is it to stiff to do it that way? Thank you for making this tutorial I have had this pattern for about a year but was afraid to try with no video love your tutorial and time stamps thank you!
@LuvLolaLooks
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I've done it that way before too. The best combination, in my opinion, is to add the stabilizer to the main panels in the beginning, under the interfacing; it gives a better stiffness /structure. Then wait until you've turned out the bag to place the gusset stabilizer. It makes it easier for turn out purposes. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

How did you secure the stabiliser to the gussets please?

I just made this bag. Was really tough on my hands and my machine couldn't handle the top stitching along the back (where the flap is). Any suggestions on that? I also will wait until the end to add my stabilizer next time!

Hi Ann. Thanks for watching! Hmm. I'm sorry to hear you had trouble. Something I like to do when I feel like the thickness is too much for a machine is rivet! You can omit the entire topstitching process by adding rivets in a decorative manner along where you would have topstitched. Maybe spread them about 1" apart? Just an idea. Happy sewing!

Would it not be easier to leave a spot in the bottom of the lining to pull your bag through instead?

Question. can you make this bag fairly easily on a 'regular' machine (e.g., Brother dreamweaver) using a leather needle?
@LuvLolaLooks
2 жыл бұрын
Hi! It depends what material you use, and also on your machine. We all know, not all domestics are made equal lol If you regularly sew vinyl on your domestic with no problems, I don't see why not. I will note, this particular purple vinyl is a little thicker than your average vinyl. But I did sew all my vinyl bags on my domestic before I purchased my industrial. Sometimes I would have issues with the topstitching. But I hear others say they have no problem at all. So it really depends on your machine. Good luck! Let me know how it goes!

@@LuvLolaLooksThank you. I can sew some fairly heavy duty fabric on my dreamweaver and I also have a heavy duty quilting machine. I am trying not to buy an industrial but it doesn't take much to send me down that rabbit hole.

From a local store here in Houston. Sunny Sewing sells a very similar one, the Thor 1341 SOUTHWEST SEWING MACHINES (713) 977-6567 g.co/kgs/FkRTs3U
