Those eyes are truly horrifying. I've always found big, staring round eyes to be more scary than the more stylized and thin "sinister slits". The round eyes of this monster just scream out madness somehow. Awesome paintjob as always!

Same for me, and i didnt really find good model to get too. If i order them online, it's always from another country so the whole price cost me so much more than just random Warhammer box. So i stick to gameworkshop product, because i got a store in my city :/ Even Star Wars legion miniature cost more than a box of Warhammer in my city :/

The way you painted it isn't creepy, it's more of a creature that will show pretty colors to you with its scales/skin. And once you get caught in the beauty of it, it'll devour you. I love it.

What I like most about this, is that it shows a clear love of "effective and efficient" techniques without losing any of the passion towards skillful understanding. I absolutely love that you were able to do this! It obviously looks even easier then that with the way you shot it, but its such an inspiring way that appeals to me very deeply.

The paint job is awesome. It doesn't look clownish or scary though, it just looks cute. But, that's due to the miniature. It looks too much like one of the eels from The Little Mermaid to be scary. Part of the issue might also be that the fingers look too much like the expected ridges to create the body-horror that the game typically aims for. I think it's a really fun model, but it's one of the least horrific KDM bosses that I've seen.

I see people over and over in love with KDM models. I like the style and … adultness?… of KDM, but the scarcity and price tag is off putting even more than GWs false scarcity business model. Great video! I loved the color combos and it looked marvelously restorative and freeing to layer up the highlights by doing color combinations of the crazy base tones you laid down with the airbrush. Brilliant. I’ll definitely try this sometime! Thank you!

My brother bought the Cthulhu Death May Die boardgame as a gift for some friends and I've been helping him paint the figures for it, it's such a liberating change of pace from the GW style models that emphasize edges for easy highlighting and stuff, to just put a wacky underpainting on a big monster and riff on the highlights, it's really fun. Also, that paint scheme and some of the line quality looks very reminiscent of mural artist Kiptoe there, Jon. I like it a lot 👌

As a paramedic I have seen some terrifying dogs in my time, the most aggressive (only ones I've actually been bitten by) are the little geriatric chihuahua's. I have greedily guzzled up every scrap of content for gambler's chest, from playthroughs to painting and this is the best so far. I've been playing, on and off, for a few years but missed out on the initial kickstarted. This interpretation of what I agree is the best model in the expansion is inspired. I know my skills are nowhere near yours but i feel so inspired to try to incorporate some of your ideas and techniques now. I'm not home at the moment, heading down to that there London for the greatest wrestling show ever but, as soon as I get back next week, I'm slaying some grey ninjon-esque style hopefully.

I never knew KDM existed until 2 years ago. One of the DND players I DM for busted it out one night and man I fell in love with both the minis and the game. I desperately wish I was aware of this game back in the day. The fact that I will most likely never own a copy of this game makes me really sad. We play it every time that we need a break from our normal DND games, and I love the it. I'm not a fan of the horny pin-up side of KDM (nothing wrong with it, it's just not for me) but their "normal" game miniatures are so fucking cool. All I want is to be able to paint these awesome monsters, and his unpainted collection just stares at me every time we play.

What a great paint job. You really captured the "chromatic" look of it, like I'm looking at a car with a chromatic wrap on it. Personally, I would have leaned into both it's aquatic and corpse like aspects. At the tail end, and the finger ridges having a rotting flesh kind of look, with little bit of metallic in there to sell the fish scales, and then slowly blended to a pallid sickly red towards the face.
