Theyre a good match. I had a show jumper who was 1st a champion racehorse. His speed didnt cause him to flatten out over jumps as you'd expect. As long as jumps were high, he would check himself a split second before taking off over the jump, yet he had no respect for smaller jumps. Once he had his head, he was impossible to pull back. If I pointed him in the right direction & sat quietly he'd get over the large jumps smoothly himself & fast; but if I fought to slow him down or even tried half-halting he'd get furious & distracted & start knocking poles down. The usual rules for riding a large show jumping course didnt seem to apply to him. Unleashed & flying describes it.

Real!! I'm helping train a 5yo cob who LOVES cantering and jumping. And I mean, he LOVES it. He literally cannot stand still when he starts jumping, constantly wanting to get back in line for a jump, but he hasn't jumped as high as the other horses yet so he's gotta wait til they get put down again. Rode him today and was just planning to walk around the arena and maybe a trot. Boy did he have other ideas.. cantered, ears forward the whole time, did a little neigh went I stopped him and SMILED after 😂🫶 Teaching him slow is definitely taking slower than I thought it would lol, but I definitely agree with your statement

Oh, I'm sure almost every top rider there has ever been was born super rich. Normal people can't even afford the lessons and clothes, never mind just 1 actual horse of any kind. Only rich people can jump competitivly. Other people need to work.

The Global champions tour is only for millionars owners. Even some top riders did complain about this bling bling competition! 🤑💰

@@cattymajiv I mean, that's not true. Plenty of top riders don't/ didn't have their own horses. They get sponsors who provide the horse for them and get paid to train and show the horses. Many here (in germany) have started by working at stables in exchange for lessons. You have an easier start if you have a wealthy background (as in life in general), but you don't have to be super rich by any means to start riding horses. It depends on where in the world you are, though; I'll acknowledge that.

When a brilliant rider knows when to pull her mount back, sometimes hard, to keep him from rushing the fences. And when to let him have his head to win seconds. Superb. What a delight to watch.

Wow! Talk about, 'I love it when a plan comes together!' I think as she mounted him he turned to her and said, 'You just hang on girl, I got this!'😂🤣 One of the best if not the best rides I've seen over all the years I've watched this.🏅

@pjskgoddes Yeah, I think so. The brand on the walls are VDL with a Dutch flag, and he shouted the names "Vermeer" and "Sanne Thijsse" and Sanne is a Dutch rider.

the poor mouth on that horse, they need to ban bits asap - people have proven time and time again that this is such an unnecessary tool that causes unnecessary pain

Not all bits are terrible. I definitely agree that there are harsh bits out there and 99% of them don't need to be used by 99% of people but banning them is excessive. I've tried bitless with my horse before and it was actually more dangerous for the both of us, we switched to a basic snaffle and it's been great since then.

Tell me your not a horse person without telling me... If you knew anything about horses, you'd be able to clearly see her desperately trying to hold him back while he wants to go full speed full Force😂 It's just called be educated and not spread false information.

I don’t particularly enjoy bits either. Some bits are very strong and can be very hurtful if the wrong (uneducated) person uses it on their horse. Now, here’s the thing. A horse owner usually tries out multiple bits as well as bitless bridles on their horses to find what the horse prefers, because trust me - they tell you what they prefer. Some horses dislike bitless bridles, and prefer snapples for example. I usually rode bitless or in a neckrope, but it so happened that I used a very mild bit - though I never pulled, body language all the way as to not put unnesseccary strain on the horse’s mouth. So for the horse as well, and thinking of what they prefer it is good we have the possibility to choose and pick, and listen to what the horse prefers. A good rider knows to rely more on their body than what’s in the horse’s mouth. In this case the rider used their body as well as the bit because of how excited the horse is, and everyone knows that an exciting and competitive horse is a lot to deal with. When it comes to jumping, miscalculating and moving too fast towards a jump can be the difference between a clear round or a massive injury. The rider did a phenomenal job here, keeping both herself and the horse safe even though the horse wanted to run like no tomorrow. :)
