Queen never toured after A Kind Of Magic because Freddie was too sick. He just wanted to spend what time he had left recording

As a long-time Queen fan, I've never noticed there was a second bass part playing under the synth. The Miracle had some great basslines. The title track, "Breakthru" and "Rain Must Fall" also have outstanding bass parts.

Have you played “Millionaire waltz”? That song some great complimentary bass with the piano and one of his more complex bass lines! It’s at the very beginning

No it does NOT sound like Ghostbusters. If it were that pos, I wouldn't be listening to it. Let the song be itself. Stop comparing it to anything else. You do it a disservice when this happens. It's almost like saying X person has their mother's eyes, their father's nose, their auntie's long fingers, their great great uncle's hair. They aren't any of these people. Don't nitpick their features, let them be ONE thing, their own individual self. Just like this song. Great song-- on it's own. :-

It was inspired by that song, though. Then The Invisible Man inspired Danny Phantom's theme song.

My favorite Deacon bass lines is Killer Queen. I love all the chromatic walking. It's so bouncy. It fits the song perfectly while still being unexpected.

Queens' last Live apearances were on the "Kind of Magic Tour" in 1986. After that, Freddy's health deteriorated and he was no longer able to perform live! "The Miracle" album was relaesed in 1989! 🙂

It's Roger saying Fred's name, other 3 names said by Fred. I think they couldn't agree on what approach sounded best, so they did all 4 separately and made clear who was responsible for which bit.

John's Basslines are always interesting. His Bass solo in 'Millionaire's Waltz' is a melodic treat

Melodic is definitely the word for John Deacon. He was very tuneful in his playing especially in the 70s. And he was always adding high octave little twiddly bits here and there to keep it interesting. Particularly on A Day at the Races album. Love it!

This album was made during the time that Freddie was already sick due to HIV. He only had one public appearance from 89-91, so the albums The Miracle and Innuendo never had their songs played live with the whole band.

Yup, the A Kind of Magic tour in '86 was the last Queen tour with the full line-up.

Great breakdown! I hadn't caught onto that dual bassline before. Cool of you to put a spotlight on it! Once you pointed the bass being featured when Freddie says "John Deacon!", I noticed the bass parts briefly go from both center-panned to hard left (low part with pull-offs) and hard right (high fills). Also, the music video version of that break has a full four measures, but the album version edits the first measure out for some reason.

In my opinion, I prefer 80s Queen over 70s Queen probably due to the really cool bass lines. ✌️😙

@1:11 Queen last tour date with Freddie was Knebworth 9 August 86. Given this was recorded in 1989 the tribute concert never featured it nor has it been played with in the Queen + Paul Rodgers/ Adam Lambert set ups

but... but... Ghostbusters theme was a ripoff of a Huey Lewis and the News song who declined doing the soundtrack for the movie themselves 😂 (title "I want a new drug") I also feel like the electric bass line is missing some notes at the end because it just does not flow like that. It feels unnaturally created and un-Deacon-like. He was a master of groove and this grooves not by itself. Appreciate these breakdowns though! First one I have seen or rather listened to was ABBA's Dancing Queen and I never heard it like that. Bass players in general are underappreciated, good bass players often only recognized by musicians themselves.

I hear the synth bass staying completely off of the backbeat, so that all you hear on 2s and 4s is the snare drum. Yes, I'm being picky, but this detail makes the syncopation of the bass a lot funkier.
