FYI. Victorian locos, V/Line or its predecessor VR (Vic Rail) ran through into South Australia from the 1970s until the end of the Australian National era in about 1998.
The Australian National BL class were built by Clyde Engineering at Rosewater S.A. in 1984. They have an EMD 645 engine rated at 2237kw (3000hp). The V/line G class also built by Clyde are identical.
I purchased my models of the BL & G in the late 1980s and they are Powerline products. In fitted a NZ made Fiddle yard mechanism to the BL to get better running quality and removed the mechanism from the G and run it as a dummy.
The V/line X class was built by Clyde Engineering. starting in 1966. The X class has an EMD 645 engine rated at 1490kW. The Australian National 930 class was built by A E Goodwin of Sydney starting in 1955 and has a V12 Alco 251 engine rated at 1190kW.
My X class is an Austrains model while the 930 is a Lima model with the mechanism removed.
The 500 class shunt engine is one of 34 built by the South Australian Railways inn their Islington workshops between 1964 and 1969. They had an English Electric engine rated at 372kW.
Because no 500 class locos were available I converted Athearn Balwin SW1200s to make my two 500 class. I fitted a Micro Mark can motor to 503.
