I live in NYC too James and find I am often drawn to places in the city that are in some of my favorite movies. Unfortunately some are gone, but the ones that are still standing are great to hang out around during my free time. So many times I just either sit or stand there and just take it all in. Quite wonderful.

@@geekinwithJamesHancock True. The city is quite different now from the days of Taxi Driver. I was super young then, but still remember the my parents would warn me to stay away from certain places in the city when I got old enough to venture around the city alone. Actually, when I got old enough in the 80's those areas my parents told me to stay away from were actually the places I had the best time in. There are many times when I actually prefer the New York City of my childhood. Go figure.

@@geekinwithJamesHancock Ha ha. John Boorman must have felt the same way since he moved to the same area where he shot the film and still lives there now. By the way I think a complete Boorman episode is long overdue for Wrong Reel. Would love to be part of that conversation.

thank you for pointing out the wet shiny streets of Sweet Smell of Success, Clifford Odets could really write (i just rewatched Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf). Sweet Smell of Success really is a gripping, plot driven movie, and with lines like claws, and lines like staves, and lines that nibble. (‘Nazi’…🤣) .the look is so unique, i suppose it begins with Tony Curtis getting newspapers, and it’s got a fantastic feeling of movement to it. i hope that people will watch it. Idk why, but when i was in grade school i loved that scene where ‘this one. is toting. that one. around for’-i loved the camera work. -anyway, it’s a scrumptious scorpion of a movie, with plenty of crunch.

James, I really enjoyed this video!! I’m too a cinephile like you (did I spell that right? LOL) Sergio Leone’s Once Upon A Time in America is a phenomenal gangster film and it’s often overlooked in my opinion. I love all of the wide shots Sergio uses in his pictures, is that the term Im looking for? Wide shot? Sergio also directed my favorite Western of all time...Once Upon A Time in The West! Once again, great video!! Would love to see more of these!
