we went there today on a rather hot day (33+C) since we're leaving for Germany tomorrow and saw what we wanted to see in Budapest (many things thanks to your videos, especially the Labyrinth was great fun on a hot day! Don't turn on a flashlight in the dark, follow the rope on the wall. Spooky!) and had a great day in Szentendre. I would skip the Japanese garden next time, bit of a walk and wasn't that special (but had mosquitoes ;-) ) but you should add the Retro Design Muzeum which is a lot of fun. Things from the 60es and 70es, toys, household items, TVs and typewriters, a whole bunch of cars, really a fun place to visit. We also hit the Marzipan museum, well worth it, the Christmas store also has a museum of old decorations dating back to the 1800, all their own collection. Nice to sit on the main square for drinks and some small bites to eat, it was too hot for a big meal. Glad I found out about this little town from your videos and so many other helpful tips from many of your other uploads, super helpful!

I assume he trip is longer by boat, but where can I find information on that? Perhaps then take the HEV back to Budapest. Now I will definitely visit Szentendre!...on a weekday.

Thanks for all the cool content. How many hours do you think would be needed to see Szentendre?
@StuffedCabbageAdventures
2 ай бұрын
Hey there! It depends on a lot of things and what a person wishes to do, their pace and how thorough you explore the town. I would say it's a day trip, so wouldn't plan anything major next to it, but it's doable to visit during daytime and head back to Budapest for the late afternoon / evening and still do other activities. Some people ask if Szentendre and Visegrád are doable in 1 day for example, but I would advise against that as it would be very fast paced and you'll miss a lot. Hope this helps 😊

Sad to hear you couldn't get a full experience. I guess its not only the winter time but also being the middle of the week. Most people go during weekends but since overall nr of visitors are much lower during winter, I guess not every place opens up during the weekdays. Thanks for Sharing!

Hello 👋 i will come budapest in August, and i want to know if i make the weekly ticket, i must validate the ticket every time? And i want to ask if the bus and train are 24 hours in use? Thanks
@StuffedCabbageAdventures
Жыл бұрын
Hey there! If you get a public transport pass like a weekly one you don't need to validate that every time, if you purchase the paper based pass you may need to show that to inspectors or bus drivers. Or if you get the pass within the Budapest Go app, you may need to scan a QR code and show to bus driver if needed. Single fare tickets need validation once boarding the vehicle. This is also applicable for the extension ticket for the train to Szentendre. Regarding 24 hour public transport, in Budapest there are special night services. But traveling to and from Szentendre during the late night hours can be very tricky so I would not plan with that. Last train back to Budapest leaves around 23:30.

Do you think I can have a great time in early October here on Tuesday? Heard the weather is gonna be unstable and shops may be closed in off seasons...
@StuffedCabbageAdventures
Ай бұрын
The weather is always hard to predict, but October there are still some really nice and sunny days here and there :) Regarding Szentendre it is most popular on weekends especially during summer. On a Tuesday in October not all the shops will be open, the town would be more laid back and relaxed. You can still enjoy the streets and alleys and the riverside, but your options for restaurants and artsy shops may be limited but major stores like the Christmas Decoration shop will be open. I hope this helps with making a decision 😊

@StuffedCabbageAdventures

Hey there! Getting to Visegrad from Szentendre is not complicated, there is a Bus that goes between the 2 (takes about 50 mins one way). However it may be tricky to fit these two into 1 day of a program, would be very fast paced in my opinion and exhausting.

@@StuffedCabbageAdventures Can i ask about the best train line from Nyugati railway station to Nagymaros-visegrad? I see multiple lines... Thanks!
@StuffedCabbageAdventures

@@glickyaron9490 hey there! There are multiple lines yes, some stop at more stations than others, but if you use Google maps to plan the travel it will tell you which numbered trains to look for and how long the travel takes. I see for example now that Z70 towards Szob goes ones every hour and takes about 40 mins to get From Nyugati to Nagymaros-Visegrád station 😊

Hey there, it will be very tough to fit in Esztergom or Visegrád on the same day. It's easy to spend half a day there or even more. You can consider Szentendre as activities for the day and then head back to Budapest for late afternoon / evening activities 😊

Can i do a 1/2 day morning, ie 7am to 2pm kind of day trip to Szentendre? As i would like to combine Szechenyi thermals bath when back to Budapest on the same day. Doable?
@StuffedCabbageAdventures
8 ай бұрын
Technically you can do a quick tour of Szentendre, if you come during these colder months you won't be sitting outside at the riverfront, so you could fit a lot of not all into a half a day trip. The only thing I would raise perhaps is that Szechenyi becomes more and more crowded as the time goes on, so perhaps by the time you get there it may be a bit too crowded. But I don't say this to discourage you from visiting it, just trying to set expectations :)

Hey there! Szentendre is a small and very walkable town. From the train station all the way up the north where the Japanese garden is it's an under 2 km walk. Of course you can walk a ton if you explore the many side streets 😊

Hey there, the bus is roughly the same time (but for Buses you need to go to Újpest Városkapu subway station), and the boat if I am not mistaken is longer, around 1,5 hours to Szentendre and an hour back to Budapest.

There are various small shops for artisan products around the city, usually there is also a weekend market held called WAMP (next one is held on 12th of May then 16th of June). There is also a place called Paloma Artspace in the city center with different artisan goods on sale.
