@S A Jerry Stiller made that show; that's the truth. They were some big shoes to fill. If they had gotten someone else for some reason, MAYBE there is a small handful of people in the world that could have done it. Probably not. He was the best part of the show. He was the funniest and craziest. He had all the zingers. The best. A legend. He and his wife of 61+ years, Anne Meara, both had long and happy lives. He was 92. She was mid-80s and died around 2013. What a great couple!

It warmed my heart when I read Mr. Jerry Stiller had a dream of having a roast. For him, that meant he was truly successful and loved by the comedy/ acting community. And what made it so special was that he thought of this as a daring thing to do (which it really is). Goes to show how when you're beloved and respected, dreams do come true. Special points to Jason Alexander which made it look so easy and so funny. Also with Jeff Ross. That was a great roast.

Jasons got a great chest voice for singing! Surprising great breath support/control and range, really difficult performance. Melody was on point, went really high at some parts, vibrato, straight tone, and fry/growl! The man is trained well

Well, wouldn't you know it, he was nominated for a number of Emmys and Golden Globe Awards, but he *won* a Tony and a Grammy for his musical work. On Broadway, natch. (He also won a couple SAG Awards; for Seinfeld, of course)

Not many people know this but Jason Alexander got his start on broadway. He's a triple threat, he can sing, act and dance. Who would off taught that George Constanza can be that talented, lol. I actually like Jason as George, he's great and I like Jerry Stiller, he was a great actor.

The whole cast is good, including Newman but I feel like anyone could've done Newman (and Jerry as he's the straight man reacting to the crazy around him) but not just anyone could be George and Elaine. Agree that Jerry isn't the funniest guy on his own show.

I will never forget meeting Jerry as a young boy at Santa Anita with my dad watching Stiller and Meara and on a break talked to them they were so nice to me told me about their son Ben how we were close in age and wished they had brought him and Jerry even came to our table and talked to my dad a day I never forgot RIP Jerry ...

I am certain that if there was a sit-com, any sit-com, that was in jeopardy of being cancelled and if Jerry Stiller was cast in that show, it would be saved, and likely become a hit. Jerry Stiller was the reason I started, (and then continued) watching KOQ. Arthur Spooner STILL makes me laugh even though I've memorized his every line in every episode.

What a great roast. It is difficult to be mean to such a great person. He will truly be missed, as a person, as an actor and as a comedian. I hear he was a good father and friend too.

@@andrewhodgeson8006 the world started dying off around 2006, had a brief relapse in 2017 and is just heading straight for the bottom now. We were going up for a loooong time (probably since WW2 ?). Wonder what's next.

Jason Alexander is such a superb actor, comedian, singer and entertainer... i am surprised he hasn't been in more important movies and roles; definitely under-utilized. RIP Jerry Stiller another great actor!

It's sad that the '90s and early '00s were the last shred of decency and humility we had for American entertainment. I miss these events, people held themselves to a different standard...plus, without cellphones or technology, all you could do was party and mingle!

I still have a glow about me from winning the feats of strength at our Festivus celebration a couple of nights ago (sorry about that grandma but you had to go down), so I thought I would come watch the roast of the man who inspired me. "Festivus...for the rest of us!"
