At the end of the 1880s, as a reaction against academicism and the illusionist reproduction of reality, a group of artists called “Nabis” wanted to break down the boundary between fine arts and applied arts. The best known are Bonnard, Vuillard and Maurice Denis. Isabelle Cahn, curator of the exhibition “Les Nabis et le décor”, reviews this exceptional exhibition which brings together a hundred paintings, drawings, prints and objets d’art and gives visitors access to a collection of decorative works gathered from various locations.
“Les Nabis et le décor. Bonnard, Vuillard, Maurice Denis, …” from March 13 to June 30 2019 at the Musée du Luxembourg.
