The scene where he breaks the clock was inspired by my grandfather Carvel "Bama" Rowell. He busted the Bulova clock at Ebbets Field in 1946 while playing for the Boston Braves. There was some kind of promotion where if you hit the clock you get a free watch. They apparently forgot but he finally got his watch in 1987.

it is incredibly an encouraging movie and yet without your review wouldn't be as such, being a complicated one for my mind to grasp this late into a night. once again i had to send my praise and gratitude for you sir, awesome work.

Great job on the title sequence Jan Man. Have loved this film since childhood, such a well made feel good film. I prefer this over Field of Dreams.

Field of Dreams is a good movie, though I do think most everything about The Natural is better.

@@JanManChronicles also think Field of Dreams is a good film. The Natural has always meant more to me tho.

Field of Dreams is supernatural. The Natural just is...

i don't know about the natural ability being pasted down to his son but i do know about playing catch with your dad that brings those memories back to you when you get old. field of dreams showed the same concept.

Light and dark: The Natural has an eerie semblance to the Amadeus Mozart story.

I came to watch this on the day a real-life 'Natural', Shohei Ohtani, held his press conference concerning gambling allegations. Hoping the latter ain't so.

I always wondered if anyone else noticed that Darren McGavin was made up to look a bit like Richard Nixon in this movie, especially his nose.
