So happy to know that people who don't speak Dutch still "feel it"! It's supposed to do that. As a Dutchie, I am super proud of Stien and our entry. It's giving my goosebumps all the time, and I've listened to it 30+ at least. I'm not often a fan of our entries, but this really hit me because of the lyrics and her life story. I hope the live performance will blow us away as well. I think this could be a dark horse, and possibly end up in the top 5.

Danie, i will teach you Dutch. I am actually teaching Dutch right now to our refugee we welcomed into our home. He lost everything within one week. Everything. We are not religious at all, but it is like God himself has send him to us. He is smart, speaks Ukraine, Russian, English, and fluently Chinese and extremely funny. We are so thankful and humble that we could at least spare one human life. ❤️ So let me teach you some Dutch

Song gave me chills the first time i heard it. Really sensitive with a singer who is really in it. After i listened this over and over again, because i can't control my self, this song stuck in your head and it makes me emotional, also because i understand the language, the song is deep, thats why its called diep "te" hehe

I loved Victoria last year with Growing Up is Getting Old. This song gives me the same "sad indie girl" vibes and I am living for it. The lyrics are about sinking deep into your feelings, being unable to move on from a past love. It is a song about depression and sadness but it is song in a hauntingly beautiful way. I love it.

1:35 i listened to this song on repeat while on my way home with my family in the car at night from a dinner at Mcdonalds, just perfect. I can imagine myself listening ot this on the way to my vacation and back home(going to Spain(Blanes, Catalonia) then France(Near the alps, 20km away from Mt Blanc i believe). But the lyrics are amazing, they flow so well and can tell the story insanely well

For those who fell in love with this song...check this one out from S10. It was a very big hit last year in the Netherlands and is still played a lot on the radio. It's one of my favourite Dutch songs ever! It is called "adem je in" and is just as beautiful as "de diepte" It is worth a listen 🥰kzitem.info/news/bejne/wGpv3qt6rZujh5g

For me this doesn’t pack a punch but both a live performance and repeated listens may make it grow on me. For now it’s mostly forgettable. Pleasant - but not demanding my attention.

why, in this song, does Dutch sound like Swedish (or rather have similar vibes to Swedish in a song)? probably because both are Germanic languages?
@turtellok4964

Stien often visits Stockholm, maybe she got influenced by it, haha. I think she chose the words carefully to make the language sound less harsh (since we're known for that). It sounds softer, and the Swedish language sounds quite soft as well. I lived in Sweden for 7 years myself.

Yes. I'm dutch and always watch Melodifestivalen. I was surprised that I understand some of what is being said in Swedish. Normaly I don't understand anything from other countries but Swedish and Danish I can understand a bit

Dutch and Swedish have a lot of words in common, it’s not difficult for a dutchie to learn Swedish and the other way around💙
