How is it complicated? It has an engine and a battery It deleted the transmission there’s no traditional transmission it actually seems simpler

Too complicated? It's literally how diesel train locomotives work and have for decades. It's brilliant, really - I'm surprised nobody else has done this yet. BMW came close in the i3 with that tiny 2-cylinder used as a "back up" to charge the batteries, but it was limited in its capabilities and not a replacement for charging the car. This is the best of both worlds; the instant power of an EV while not needing to see a charging station, ever.
