For future reference for those watching, you can get an LED relay that simply plugs into the factory relay box of MOST cars. Eliminating the need to solder overall and go through this slight hassle. On these cars the turn signal relay is located on the drivers' side foot well next to the door jam. These LED relays are also backwards compatible meaning they work with OEM bulbs. Again, making life that much more simpler lol. Hope this helps.

Just curious, why only resistors on the back turn signals and not the front switchbacks/turn signals?
@illusiveinu

It has resistors on the front turn signals as well. I may not have put that into the video

Hey looking at doing this to my VR4. Possible to get a better guide as to how many of what size bulbs to buy? figured it would be easier to ask someone that’s done it rather than taking everything apart myself. appreciate it

Especially after we restored the foggy and faded headlights mixed with the new LEDs the are just amazing at night. You could barely see anything at night driving the car back from Texas.

So the resistors go on the front blinkers too? Also you wouldn't know how to change blinkers covers from orange to clear? I've seen some Gen 1 with clear plastic covers but can't find them anywhere online.

The resistors go on each of the led lights that flash with the turn signals. It should be 2 in the front and 2 in the rear. So 4 resistors total. And they will be wired in between the ground wire and the 12v wire that flashes on and off when the signal is on. It just keeps the led lights from flashing really fast. As for the clear 1st gen front markers 3SX.com sold they many years ago but appear to be out of stock now. They occasionally pop up on ebay and Facebook for sale as used.

What rating resister did you add to the back turn signals .?
The switch backs that was reversed or the bulbs for the reverse light. The backwards switchbacks did work for what I wanted. Lights up amber but switches to white as a reverse. As for the reverse bulb it's a 1156. Hope this helped

@@illusiveinu my bad 1156*. I remember trying some Sylvania 1156 reverse LEDs but they didn't work. Something about the polarity being switched. Going to try again with different bulbs
