The inherent contradictions are astounding and completely unanswered. Palestinians have enshrined into their own documents that Palestine will be an Arab nation (one of 22 such nations), with Islam as its religion (although there are many Palestinians Christians), and Arabic as its national language. These hypocrites openly advocate for the establishment of a Palestinian state who's very own charter declares that Palestinian descendants from around the world would be invited back to live in the state of Palestine. Why? Because it is the national state of the Palestinian people (even though many of them were not actually born there.) This would not only be allowed and welcomed, but is openly advocated for by Palestinian activists across the globe as justice! And yet somehow, when the same is applied to Jews and Israel, its bigotry? Why should Jews not be given the Right of Return to Palestine as well? Right, since were all so interested in equality and fair treatment of minorities?

That's why there should be negotiations for a two-state solution, which Netanyahu is totally rejecting. He says no to "Fatahstan". He's fueling Palestinian extremism by erasing, oppressing, and detroying Palestine so much. But should both sides negotiate to support a right to return for those who were expelled, their children, and their grandchildren? Yeah. Israel would likely still remain a Jewish ethnostate state. And Palestine would likely be a Palestinian ethnonational state with conflicts between more secular and more Islamist groups. I doubt that many Jews would want to go live in Palestine. They'd likely prefer to go to Israel.

I'm more focused on a two-state solution. I think a conservative right to return, reparations, and a two-state solution should be a part of the peace process.

The Arab speaker ignores the state of minorities in Muslim countries; he makes demands on Israel that play well to Western audiences but he fails to recognize that, with whatever shortcomings, Israel’s minorities enjoy individual rights & privileges that are unknown in the Muslim world. And, as to the pose of Arab Palestinian goodwill, one would be well advised to review the people that they send to parliament & the people that they choose as leaders: they generally support Israel’s enemies. Arab Israelis make demands for public services but often do not pay taxes to finance those services.

Agree with the replies to your comment.. Arab countries or more correctly Arab regimes are a very poor standard to compare to. If Israel hopes to win and maintain the higher moral ground, as a modern ethical state, it shouldn’t compare it’s treatment of minorities in its midst to bad examples around it... Israel has the unique opportunity to show the world that a truly egalitarian state can exist in the Middle East and in the process be the catalyst for a dramatic shift in the whole region for the better for all its inhabitants, if it’s is able to escape the trap of being an occupier of others. I think now is the time that this is possible, now when Israel has an unassailable supremacy militarily and technologically that it can feel secure and be able to dictate the terms of the future...

because facts (such as national rights which are based on laws) have nothing to do with feelings (such as group suffering by this or that action). A similar equation could be drawn by Millions of ethnic Germans who were deported from Kaliningrad, Czechia, Romania, and Poland by the Allies as a result of the Potsdam agreements in the aftermath of WWII and even if a small minority of them stayed there, they were transferred by force to other parts of the occupiers country (such as the Volga Germans), most of them were assimilated and deprived the right to return to their ethnic homeland for many decades let alone legislate rules which will grant them equal national rights as a minority. This claim is preposterous and absurd. It's unjust and faul to its core.

@skvetny

@@jameslevitt7313 I wrote a comment which for some reason got deleted or I just can't see it right now. Regarding the expelling, it's a false accusation, merely due to the fact that the main leaders of the great Arab revolt were the ones who called Palestinians to evacuate temporarily and by the time they'll finish 'dealing with the Zionists', the Palestinians will come back as victors and will rule the land (which only approves the claim that they never had any form of self governing prior to the Israeli independence in 1948). Now, even if let's say, some of them were indeed expelled by the Israeli forces, I draw the parallels between the proper way to treat them and the way that German ethnic minorities were treated in Europe after WWII *regardless* of their affiliation with the Nazi regime. Women, children, elder people, were all uprooted from their homes, where they've lived for centuries and were moved away, either to their own ethnic genuine state (which btw was military occupied untill 1990 by both soviet and NATO forces), or to other places (i.e. Volga Germans). It was an internationally accepted practice and there's nothing special about that, it happened many times after that too (during and shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, Cyprus, Georgia... Many cases). After WWII there were millions upon millions of refugees, all of whom were treated equally by the UNHCR, but for some reason, a Palestinian refugee gets his own definition, not only that they are treated by a different UN agency - UNRWA, but their refugee status is being passed from one generation to another. That is in other words, preventing them by force to settle down anywhere else. There is no reason to treat the Palestinians any different than any other type of refugees. I hope we can agree on that.
@skvetny

It's funny to see how this debate is going. On one side you have solid facts, laws, correct perspective view - that's prof. Kontorovich's side - a global expert on international law, and on the other side you have someone who admits he has no idea about the law like Mr. Kashua, and Mr. Beinart who might know a lot about international relationships and political science but they have very low legislative knowledge, especially regarding the Israeli parliament. when you concoct all this together as a single panel, which deals with Israel's future, that might sound interesting and legitimate, but hearing law-ignorant people talk about feelings about laws rather than with facts, manipulating the audience into believing that their feelings are somehow equal in importance to facts, that is just absurd and annoying. the most important claim, legally and politically wise was made by prof. Kontorovich at 15:08 - treating the Jewish state and the Jewish national movement as less worthy or less deserving for majority rights than any other nation-state IS racism by its essence and that's the exact purpose of this entire panel - to gobble this right from the Jews.
