Well high there! We’re thrilled to welcome a new 13-month-old male giraffe to our herd.
This 10-foot tall guy traveled in a specially-designed trailer from Audubon Nature Institute in Louisiana, and arrived safely to Oakland Zoo Tuesday night. He comes to us as part of the AZA Species Survival Program (SSP) to help ensure the sustainability of a healthy, genetically diverse giraffe population.
And here’s the most exciting part - you can help us give him a name! Vote on your favorite name from the list below in the comments. We’ll announce the winning name on Monday 5/13/24.
A: Enzi (means “powerful”)
B: Nuru (means “the light”)
C: Kovu (means “scar”)
Welcome to Oakland Zoo, fella!
