I like it a lot :) "modern" done right. I like the wooden ceiling panels. the corridor or arches looks super cool. The outside looks good at night time. Plus it hasn't completely demolished all of the old bits. Its still got a nice architectural balance of old and new where they work well together. This looks like how the 60's rebuild of Euston Station SHOULD have been. Blend the old with the new seamlessly.

I remember London Bridge Station from decades ago, when I commuted in daily from Brighton. My recollection is that there often seemed to be building work going on, with hoardings and scaffold etc, somewhere or other? Essentially, they seem to have hollowed-out beneath the platforms, which are now suspended above your head in a light, airy and cavernous space. And they’ve incorporated many other great features too. This is truly impressive.

As a daily commuter from King's Cross, it does annoy me how St. Pancras toilets are free but King's Cross is 30p. However, I have found that most of the time, staff are cleaning one of the two toilets and therefore the barriers are open at one of the toilets. It may just be that I am lucky. But I can't wait to visit London Bridge soon, happy new year Geoff!

All these videos you are doing are saving me money in that I do not have visit them, however I will still go. I used to use the Tooley Street overbridge every day for while, which I assume has now been coverted to some sort of emergnecy exit. That area used to be intersting in the peek coming down the ramps trying not slip if it was wet and then get across the bridge to exit the station. Still overall I am really impressed with the work NR and their partners have done. I think it will many awards in the next few years which will be rightly deseverd.

Geoff, to answer your question about the KX/STP toilets - essentially the KX NR side is operated and managed by Network Rail who decided to charge for their toilets, St Pancras is owned by LCR and operated by Network Rail (High Speed) Ltd, who decided to have free facilities (though talks are in place to charge there too, as the toilets are being misused!)

Me and some friends were coming up from Hastings in mid 2019 and had to get off here early (we were on our way to Waterloo East) for an emergency loo break. We're very glad we did, it's a gorgeous space and so open. We just jumped on the tube one whole stop to Waterloo to make our next train. With all the traveling around London we did that weekend this was the most stand out station. They did a great job maintaining a lot of the old while modernising it.

If fortunate enough to not get signal checked at Tulse Hill or Herne Hill, then East Croydon to Blackfriars would actually take about the same amount of time, whether via London Bridge or Elephant and Castle. This is because although East Croydon to London Bridge is fast, previously getting to Blackfriars was very slow, with the single line track, etc, plus having to wait for a path into the old platform 6 at London Bridge. It will be quicker than before when through services resume however, due to the Bermondsey dive-under easing congestion south of London Bridge, and the upgraded layout with doubled track into Blackfriars.

about the discussion of the best end of the train to be at when arriving at london bridge - in japan they have posters showing where the exits will be at stations further down the line. you don't have to be a regular commuter to learn the best place to be, you just check the poster. also when getting off the train the onboard LCD display shows the platform layout of the station you're about to arrive and the street exits, interchange exits etc. Their main stations also have the "airport" style concourse with lots of shops and concourse area on the ticketed side of the barrier.

"Is there duty free?" No but it would certainly be nice if they put in a pub like they have at most other stations (Kings Cross the best example). I was there with 30 minutes to kill waiting on a train and as all the shops are selling flowers or sandwiches, I ended up having to leave the station and text a friend to meet me there when he arrived, rather than at the station like we'd agreed. Until they can get Southern trains to run on time then they definitely need to provide a source of alcohol for commuters.
