I just received my new mic today.... Very nice. Big display. Easier menu. On/Off/Volume ontop knob. Fits my hand better... Absolutely worth the money in my opinion.😊

Stock mic definitly has a smaller speaker in it. You can tell its being overdriven. The volumes seem about the same but the newer mic with the bigger speaker sounds much more level, natural, and clearer.

Looks like my 275 (USB-A) can’t use the new mic. 😢 Also, looking at the Midland website it looks the new mic doesn’t come with the radio themselves (it’s not reflected in the product images), but you have buy it separately. Is this right?
@BaptismOverland

Correct. It's an upgrade. Maybe one day it'll be the standard mic. Hopefully. And yeah it only works on newer model 275s

Yes. I had mentioned it's for MXT275 and MXT575 which has the USB ports although this has nothing to do with the usb ports. That's just for external charging of devices

@@BaptismOverland Yes, but some models have the regular USB ports, and some have USB-c ports. The Midland website specifies that the new mic only works with the models that have USB-c ports. Owners of the older models with regular USB ports would not be able to upgrade to this mic. I’m assuming this has something to do with the higher amperage required to run a USB-c port (and maybe also the new mic), but that’s just a guess.

I just got the MXT575 installed with the MXMC01 mic and Midland extension Cat 5, unfortunately the speaker on the mic isn’t working. The manual isn’t explaining how to enable the mic speaker over the unit speaker
@BaptismOverland

It's in the mic menu somewhere. I can't remember off the top of my head right now but it's def there because I enable the mic speaker over the unit speaker in one of our vehicles since the unit is hidden in the middle console.

@@BaptismOverland I hope you and the family are safe. It is the “Lock” button that is used for toggling between the base or microphone speakers. Unfortunately, there is nothing in either manual that mentions that, Midland should add that paragraph. Take care and look forward to other reviews.

Don't you have both of the Midland radios? If so, I wonder if the MXMC01 has the same performance results on both? Nonetheless, this is an awesome breakdown! Thank you. God bless!

I do. Clarity wise the new one is leagues better. Not louder. Interface is def improved. And the biggest thing is ease is use. Performance is gonna come from your antenna tbh. I tested stock, whip and ghost...the whip gives the best reception

Is it possible to set this up so that it also functions as the speaker instead of using the speaker built into the radio?
@BaptismOverland
5 ай бұрын
Of course. There is an option for you to choose where you want the sound to come out of...the radio unit or the handheld or both. I tend to have it coming from the radio in the Jeep but in our 4Runner it comes out of the handheld since the unit is hidden

There are a ton of things made in China. It doesn't necessarily mean it's cheap or bad. Hell, there's a radio out now that a LOT of people use that's a Chinese company (Waoxun) and we also know how many people own Baofengs (also Chinese). The real question is if the company is reputable and not just some foreign company putting out knockoffs. Midland has a great reputation with great quality control. Manufacturing might be in China but it's been tested and made reliable. I would look out for brands no one has ever heard of before that are priced super cheap.
