As a white conservative NRA member and concealed carry license holder I’m thrilled that women and minorities are finally realizing that self defense is a natural right. It doesn’t belong to any specific group it belongs to ALL of us. There is one political party that affirms that right and one that doesn’t. I realize that others have different life experiences than I do and different valid opinions. That being said I’ve been to gun ranges in multiple states and never seen the hostility or suspicion of non white gun owners as was described in this video. In the last couple of years we have had to stand in line at gun stores for over an hour. I live in the Seattle area and it’s pretty diverse here. I’ve had conversations in these lines with Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and women. These interactions have all been cordial and enjoyable. Mostly what I kept hearing was this was their first time buying a gun and their motives were protecting themselves and their kids. Some were like me, I just enjoy the shooting sports but most weren’t, they perceived it as a necessity. That’s a sad state of affairs as I see it. I’ve been a shooter and gun owner since I was 12 years old but never felt a need to carry for self defense until recently. In fact I never had a handgun till about 2 years ago. The divide as I see it is between those who think government is the problem and those who think it’s the solution. Between those who think mainstream media are telling them the truth and those who don’t.

As a white socialist member of the Socialist Rifle Association, both neo liberal parties are foundationally white supremacist and classist and want to take our rights away. Every 4 years, the US capitalist class allows us to help them choose which party to lead, and therefore what rights we want them to attack. In the end it's always the capitalist class who win and the working class and marginalized communities who suffer. The only times anything happens for oppressed populations is when we fight back.

Most Black leaders in the gun movement understand that Black citizens are 10.5 times more likely to be killed by members of same-race criminals than by Whites or by police based on 2019 data. They are rightly focused on lawful Black citizens protecting themselves from a criminal element regardless of race. 2nd Amendment applies to every American. I'm a Libertarian, with that said, if we could set aside the identity politics we would see we have the same enemy. Our enemy is not our fellow citizens, our enemy is a Government who has gotten to big and to powerful. We have more in common than we have that divides us. The politicians in Government divide us and have us fight amongst each other so we don't realize that they are the ones who have sewn division.

How is the government our enemy when the government is elected by the people? The government is a direct reflection of our society. If you don't like the government then educate yourself and change things. The pen is mightier than the sword.
@basedporcupine

@@brekedekdang39 The government had done things like red lining and gerrymandering to solidify their power. Career politicians who have been in government their whole careers, who cater to lobbyist and corporations over the people their supposed to serve. They deepen their pockets while Americans have to choose between gas and groceries. Americans also don't elect permanent government or the administrative state. The ATF is allowed to pass laws restricting our 2nd amendment rights, the FBI and DOJ has been politicized and often cover the corruption of the ruling class, the IRS will imprison you, fine you and take your property if you dont pay them. Insider trading, Omnibus bills that noone even reads yet pass. The NSA/DHS spies on Americans and obtains information illegally. The federal government calls on big tech and corporations to censor voices.... our constitutional rights are usurped at every turn but Americans are so invested in their 2 party/tribalisist way of thinking that nothing will change. The federal government expands their power over individuals lives every year, the federal government uses extortion to bend states to their will or lose their federal funding. Many of these politicians run unopposed in their districts, not because others aren't willing but because the GOP and DNC decides who will be the candidate. It's all corrupt and hardly a reflection of what their constituents want or a "representative" form of government.

I do plan on owning a firearm after I move out of the current state I’m in. However before I do that, I have every intention of at least learning the basics of firearm training and safety. Even if you don’t care for owning a gun, you should know the basics of it just so you’re aware and can be safe. One of my coworkers told me today that her mother wanted her to learn how to fire a gun bc “remember a restraining order is just a piece of paper” and as scary as that sentence was, her urgency was well warranted. I urge all Americans to learn how to shoot a gun, who knows, it just may save your life someday

unity we will defeat oppression, people of all races need to unite and defeat the forces of evil operating in our world right now such as racists or those who try to exploit vulnerable communities, the governments priority is to create as much division so they can exploit the lower class for the profit of the wealthiest. we cannot allow oppression to continue in any form and sacrifice until those who use their power to exploit are stopped. fair skin or not I will always fight alongside anyone fighting oppression, when people realize they must come together as one population of people who demand that the government does not invade and exploit our communities and that communities will defend themselves from aggression and harassment if necessary.
