I've got a different decade every day this week, starting with the 40s today and ending with the 80s on Saturday! There are no hard and fast rules about what to do/not to do for each decade, but life/body/budget changes are things we all have to take into consideration. Which decade are you in? Join my upcoming Closet Confidence Series, where we will talk all about summer style for your decade! www.nadamanley.com/fnl/closetworkshop/signup

Hi Nada, I've lived in London for 40 years, admittedly I'm in my 50s, not my 40s, but I dress quite modern and I would not say Primark is a regular shop for people in their 40s, except for the odd piece. Primark is the epitome of fast fashion and mostly appeals to teenagers and people in their 20s. I would add Next, Zara, Uniqlo and Mango to favourite shops for women in their 40s and 50s. In my 50s I've rediscovered Marks & Spencer's because they're making a real effort to keep up with the trends and their quality is good and prices reasonable. Another shop where I bought a few pieces in my 40s that I still wear and love is Jigsaw, although they seem to have changed designers lately and I no longer like what they do, but the quality is good, matched by higher prices. The sad thing is that even in a city like London, it is mainly chains and you don't get a huge variety. Gap and Topshop have now closed, so there's even less to choose from. For people in their 50s John Lewis department store is a good place to shop, again the quality and prices are good and it's a store that, like M&S, is trusted by shoppers.

You’re so fortunate to live in the States! A few years ago, Target closed their Canadian stores and Nordstrom stopped shipping here.

74 here. I’m watching every video so that I can see what I may want to avoid if it’s more suitable for younger women. No promises, however, since I pretty much love clothes and dress the way I like!

You are so right on with not shopping sales. Trying to pinch pennies, (and feeling like building a wardrobe was beyond my abilities), I never invested in good quality clothes. For decades I shopped at Marshall's. A few pieces lasted, but most of them were poor quality and died within 1-5 years. However, there is a sweater I purchased from Anthropologie, which I loved from the moment I tried it on. It was $50 and at the time, that was a lot of money for me. But I had to have it. Well, almost 20 years later I still have it and it still looks great. Also love the idea of spending money on the things you wear the most! The good news is I have finally started understanding capsule wardrobes/wardrobes through watching KZitemrs such as yourself the past 3-4 years, so at this late date, I'm finally building a wardrobe!

I am in my mid 40s. Many important messages to hear! I mainly shop now at TJ max, Kohl’s, and recently I rediscovered Maurice’s. We live in a small college town that has a very casual vibe. My recent goal has been to build a closet that has practical but flattering clothes that I can easily put together.

I am 72. At 5'6" i wear a size 0, so I am tall and thin and very shapely. I wear whatever I want, including things like shorter skirts and shorts. My only nod to age is that my shorts are now a 5" inseam instead of short-shorts.

I'm 44 soon. My style is classy+casual. What I started to wear a lot is midi dresses, linen or cotton. I feel good in them. But I do love wearing not too mini denim skirts and shorts 😅. My favourite jeans are nice-fitting mum jeans paired with plain t-shirts or cotton/linen shirts. I actually think I looked frumpy in my 30s looking back at my pictures 😂. Enjoying my 40s more 😅.

I'm in my 40s in Europe. I buy basics at Intimissimi, jeans from Wrangler, officewear from Tommy Hilfiger and sportwear from Fila. I workout and eat healthy. I don't think I will ever stop wearing crop tops, denim cutoffs and cowboy boots. Age is a state of mind.

I’m 40. Getting into premium denim is one of the best things I did recently. The right denim is like a girdle, a corset, and shapewear all in one. Except it’s comfortable and modern!

3 months shy of my 60th birthday! Recently moved to a very casual part of the country (rural Tennessee) so I feel overdressed in anything dressy - even for church. My personal style is very casual but feminine.
