Well, Utah is one of only two locations in the US that the UN meets. They're coming for us. Just check out the smart cities they're trying to push here.

We don't want another Olympic spotlight. We also do not want to be a smart state. We are on the wrong path.

Because of the 2002 Winter Games "We had to get better". No. This was a self imposed, keeping up elwith the jones' scenario. It was a massive misstep to forego the unique family oriented, small town charm. Now, Utah is just like every other cookie cutter Cosmopolitan "me" generation, self-serving state. Truly tragic

The "lack of dignity" in political discourse you refer to absolutely starts from the top. The issue is this: forcing WEF ideologies on people that know and understand the inherent tyrannical and nefarious Elitist subtext undergirding such ideological movements.

She actually used that word, 'elite', to describe the economy. The economy is becoming and 'elite' economy. What kind of nonsense is that?

Multiculturalism has failed the nation, what makes her think it will work here? I would also like to say that the majority of the issues we face could be solved with good urbanism, mainly the housing cost. Good urbanism would also reduce the dependency on cars, opening the gate for people to live without a car to pay for. The fact that growth is mainly coming from outside the state should be concerning, the newcomers do not understand our history, and what brought us here. They also do not share the same cultural values as we do, which will only serve to divide Utah even further. The only way we can continue to see growth and prosperity is by protecting the “monoculture” that brought us here in the first place. We don’t need to change, the newcomers need to adapt.

vocab says it all ...elite, elite, elite. New voice, price farmers out of water, dignity in discourse like Cox's a** hole? Integrated to the world. We do not want the world move the NSA and the UN out of Utah. This path is wrong.

Coming back? Our children are leaving because of housing prices. The gov should let the free market. The conflict from one statement to the next is incredible.

Your statement is in error. Utah has a net immigration rate of 14.4 per 1,000. That immigration rate is slightly less than Texas and slightly more than Oklahoma. On balance, people are moving to Utah, not away. But yes, market prices should decide these things, not government fiat. However, growth in population will inevitably drive up the cost of water, and this will limit Utah's growth.

If we are to get through the challenges of affordable housing along with other social efforts, we need to install an economic model that allows a convertible debt offering from government/charitable bonds to preferred stock in government foundations with a focus on infrastructure support like housing, competing social welfare systems, and the like. If we, as a state are going to rise to the opportunities that growth affords, we need to take care of the needs of the people who are already here along with those who are to come here. If we are going to unite the people of our state, we have got to find common ground between the political narratives of the prevailing parties. I do not believe that voters agree with everything their party stands for. There is wiggle room that is held in common between constituents. It is time we find common ground to build a foundation to build upon in Utah.
