one of the more professional ways to clean the inside of a bottle is to fill it with metal beads like bbs for a bb gun... and then soap water and shake the bottle around until everything is clean, rinse out the soap and water and keep the beads for the next bottle. i used this to clean out a 40 year old 6 gallon glass water bottle.

Depending on what kinds of deposits are in the bottle you can try cleaning with citric acid type cleaners. In a pinch I've used Tang also Cola. I used to live where a trip to the store and home was over an hour, I learned to improvise, lol. The bbs trick works.

To clean the inside of the bottles pour some sand/gravel into the bottle about 5-10mm depth and then 1/4 fill with hot soapy water and cover the opening, now shake until clean. I always clean bottles this way the and it always works.

Cleaning bottles in their uncut form is easy when using sand mixed with a little water and shake it all up all the sand and water can be recycled for the next bottle etc.. have a bit of a shake up party or shake yoga and you get a lovely clean whole bottle, for another project..

I wonder if you can use the broken and left over bottle/jug pieces by breaking them into small pieces -- then put them in your cement mixer with small rocks (pebble size), sand and water to tumble the glass smooth (almost like beach glass). If it works you could use the "polished" pieces in walkways or floors, or even as cob mosaics in the walls.

Clamp a piece of plywood to the fence of the glass cutter, it should be about an inch higher than the center of the bottle, you'll have more surface area to brace and guide the larger bottles. Also, try turning the saw 90 degrees, so you're standing behind the fence, you can then hold the bottle with a hand on each side, as you pull towards you against the fence, as you feed it through the blade. You can feed either from left to right, or vise versa, by simply orientating the fence and saw base to what works best for you.

I can't remember the science behind it but you can hammer a nail through the bottom of a coffee cup if it is submerged under water. The water changes the cutting properties but I forget the scientific explanation... this is why wet saws work also. Basically you need more water when cutting and they won't crack they will cut very easily. If someone knows what I'm talking about please comment and give the scientific explaination that I can't remember.
