Should we come up with an even crazier drop test or send all our bars down a 100' pile of rocks?

Tie it loose car bumper and drive! Play on words the "bumper test" ... It'd be a great way to get more views but would you be willing to sacrifice your bar possibly a back window for a KZitem video? Sophie's choice. Maybe start off with that "silver" bar that weighs like 40ish pounds...

If you're that desperate for video ideas Coop hasn't done already... A while ago the $2200 Run Rocket got a lot of press, Brian Shaw was using one, I'm pretty sure that Coop covered it, but a cursory search didn't turn up a video about it from him. At $250 the Exer-Genie seems to offer the exact same functionality, with a theoretically unlimited rope length, for a 10th the cost, and significantly less floor space used. If you buy used on eBay, because it's been out since the 60's, it's a 100th the price of the run rocket. And these things were used in space during the space race since their weight to resistence ratio is pretty damn high. IIRC you're a ~~failed~~ retired college runner, so you might even be familiar with them.

Cost of bumper plates $100, cost of really cool barbell you hide price of from wife $600. Cost of dropping that said bar and plates off of deadly mountain of loose rocks and not dying on camera, priceless. Great vid.

You may have just proven that despite all the time we spend in our beautiful gyms that we have carefully constructed, climbing a small pile of rocks with 75 lbs is a workout on another level, and it's so simple. Reminds me of when I used to do triathlons with a little lifting... when I would go on a once a year week long backpacking trip in the hills with some buddies, with a 45 lb pack, and be slammed after day one, despite being able to put up reasonable numbers (not Adrian numbers, but getting there).

I don’t live up north anymore because my Texas born wife refuses to live anywhere with actual winters but I always thought that neighbors not wanting to visit was a huge plus. If you think this is expensive in the US, it is even more expensive in Norway. You guys get it for cheap. I have to pay 870 usd for the same bar excluding shipping, and I live in Norway. Probably one of the reasons that most norwegians would buy Rogue before they buy Gungnir. It is cheaper ordering Rogue from belgium, than Gungnir from the shop next door. Anyway, I’m rambling. Thanks for this review, as always I enjoyed your video.

@GlucksGym
2 жыл бұрын
Things get dropped for sure. I've had times with heavy DBs where the weight didn't go up right or something happened and it was my shoulder or that weight. You better believe I let that thing go. Sure you don't need to throw things around and this is dramatized to show how well they actually hold but drops can happen. Hopefully not like this 😂

I have the DB handles, which I love. Zero regrets. That said, the barbell version seems a bit overkill, IMO. Also, doesn't the 28mm shaft make it an Oly bar, not a multipurpose? Finally, that was more of a roll test. It needs more impact from an unobstructed vertical path. I suggest you climb onto the roof at Yaheetech HQ and drop it from there. Bonus points if you hit the CEO's Mercedes Benz S-Class....er, 1998 Ford Escort.
@GlucksGym
2 жыл бұрын
We reviewed the handles too (as you know) and I think it makes more sense on a handle but a lot of people think the other way around. Either way they work great on both. Yeah it's designed as an oly which I compare the specs too right off the bat but tbh whether we call it an oly or multi purpose it's somewhere between either way since you could argue oly should have bearings. I debated a big drop test but getting on top of the barn is 10x the death trap this test was 😂
