Yes, it is an expensive chunk of glass. (worth every penny) I would not change it for anything. The Z 20 mm, 35 mm, 50 mm and the Z 85 mm all f/1.8. You are right, all great lenses and low light monsters. Thanks for your post.

I have the 35mm and while I like the focal length and the images I get ou to the lens...I find it to be the worst performing lens in the line up in terms of focusing. Mine struggles all the time with hunting and focus noise is annoying but the 50 version has no issues at all and its focuses faster! I believe Nikon could fix the 35mm issues with a firmware update but I don't think there is demand for it.

Oh, that's an interesting one, I now need to try the 50 to see how different they are!

I'm torn between picking this or the 50mm, I've been with 50mm this past year with my D750 and just got exposed to 35mm FL, fell in love for studio works, but outdoors I still pick 50mm. I can do DX crop if I want best of both worlds, but I really have to pick one between these too, since my other prime is 105mm f1.4

I can completely understand that! Both 35 and 50mm are great focal lengths, I think I will add the 50mm at some point, particularly for outdoors

I remember looking at this lens when I got my Z5, but ended up going with the 50mm f/1.8 S instead. The 35 and 50 are such great lenses in the Z line up…
