@@jacktangent I think that's the joke here; Intended or not... Elliot even made a joke about that in one of his videos there; There, being Japan as a whole, not just the Hard Off stores...

@@jacktangent yeah but it kinda makes sense. The “hard” is short for “hardware” just like their other stores Book-off and tool-off. Liqour-off is actually the funniest branch name

Those are the controllers for Nintendo Switch Online (which also features SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis games in the expansion pack) including said SEGA controller. Still, a SEGA controller officially licensed and produced by Nintendo is both pretty weird and cool.

I cant remember if I've said it before, but tye quality of your cinematography (if thats even the right word for it, but you know what I mean) is incredible. This is great, it reminds me of something you'd see on a TV network in the US called Vice. They do a ton of documentaries on obscure parts of the the world, places forgotten but not gone. The entrance is the the Pokémon wireless communication gate. That's such a nice touch.

In the big cities like Toyko, Kyoto, and Osaka the Nintendo Store and Pokemon Center can get quite busy but there are almost always some nice exclusives (excluding resellers of course). They not massive stores but they are pretty dense.

That exact super potato in Osaka was the ONLY place in Japan I found a boxed copy of a gameboy colour game I'd been hunting for (future video I'll be making for sure!!), and best of all since it was not one of the poster child games I actually think I managed the impossible and got a good price from Super potato hahaha!! Super potato is just one of those places where you wish you had the mega coins to pick up so many nice condition boxed goods 😅

After many trials and tribulations, I finally have a near-mint silver Game Boy Light with no screen issues whatsoever and only one tiny nick on the battery cover. Despite living in Japan from 2005-2007, I only found out about the holy grail of Game Boys through this channel many years later. It really is a glorious piece of hardware; my hands find the GBA SP awkward to hold, which makes sense as it was intended for kids, but the Game Boy Light is perfect. Now I just need to find a boxed Famitsu 500 version with the buxom astronaut being drooled over by a little alien bro, and my life will be complete. It will be mine.

I have a feeling you'd love it where I live. We get whole herds of deer roaming the neighborhood, and even though it's technically illegal here, just about everyone feeds them and they really swarm. It's kind of funny watching them raise a hoof to each other fighting over food, and the baby deer are so cute.

btw, I dunno where they got it, but someone me and my brothers know, brought to our house a tin of snacks, and the tin case it was in, had on it a Pokemon parody image of the Famicom artwork of Super Mario Bros 3. It was literally just the SMB3 Famicom artwork, but with Pokemon instead of Mario characters. Pikachu dressing up like Mario, I think, for example

So funny, I was in Osaka literally just 3 days ago, Denden Town is so much more fun than Akihabara in Tokyo - have been posting some shorts and vids on @pointlesswalking from the gundam store and gashapon-hunting and some arcades with more to come from super potato and the arcades and the backstreet shops - even found an electronics shop with full stock of arcade machine parts in Osaka, all the JFL-sticks and restrictors and buttons and Otto-upgrades in stock - Osaka also has some good arcades with actuall old games, even found a couple of Street fighter 2 rainbow edition machines - but back Tokyo now to raid the side streets of Akihabara inside the tiny tinkerer market at Tokyo Radio Department with all the grungy dirty famicoms and mods they have - good times - and great series of videos you’ve made from Japan, so fun to watch them again now that I’m here :)

honestly like... I hope you went to some of the other, better, cheaper, retro game stores in Osaka. Obviously Super Potato is over priced... but Ive also found that 90% of the Hard Offs are as well, and their selection is limited. Even in the countryside I've seen outrageous prices. Hard Off isnt the answer to finding low prices. Maybe 4 years ago. But not now.
