I unscrewed the bottom cap of my non tactical tm9k but it won’t allow you to replace the battery, To replace the battery you have to unscrew the lens unscrew a couple of screws hidden under there, unscrew the bottom cap and prepare to solder And Nick forgot to mention the biggest annoyance people have with this light namely the thermal protection that basically tuns the light into a pwm light

I do have a strong opinion about this light. And i think you kind of missed the point here. I personaly own this flashlight. And all the problems you mentioned do exist. BUT this is a highly purpose build light. It is made for law enforcement and self defence aplications. Thats why the strobe and the ulta hight are instantly accessible. Thats why the ultra high lasts only 10 seconds. Thats why the runtime on high (2000lm) is only 3 hours. And thats also why there is no comfortable way to hold it in an traditional way. It is ment to be used in cigare gripp aside of an firearm or solo as a selfdefense weapon. I personally use it when going to lostplaces and for self-defense. I find it to be the perfect lostplace flashlight. It has wide light angle. It has a resonable runtime on high (what is mostly what i use). And it has an easy accessible strobe/ ultra high in case somebody is not in a good mode. Also for law enforcement and sprecial forces a replacable battery is not necessary. Never the less i’d also liked it to be replacable. By the way: i love your reviews Nick!

As a flashlight enthusiast, I will never get a light with a non replaceable battery.

Nitecore are an amazing brand and I have many of them. Saying that I have stayed away from there higher output lights as the turbo holds for seconds making it a gimmick in my mind. This is a 2000 lumen light without not not throw. I picked up the Nitecore MH25s and P20ix and they are amazing... And can the light outside when doing a review 😄

I'm sorry, but I have never seen the appeal of gee-whiz lights with 5 second turbo modes. So many of these "tactical" manufacturers spend hours of R&D and marketing budget chasing that number at the expense of everything else. The tube lights are boring, but people actually use them. I think the budget brands who have invested in insanely configurable firmware and lots of LED options while still keeping prices down are the real heroes who will get my dollar.

I think it's intended to stun an adversary. Or maybe for signaling in a survival situation? Those are the only two scenarios I can imagine, and both should be momentary switch.

@@cmtptr I thought the general wisdom for those would be to use a strobe/SOS mode rather than turbo?

I don't know who this is for either, but the general size and shape makes sense to me for a jacket pocket. With a replaceable battery and less ugly LEDs, I might even want one of these.

Great size,UI and looks.With 9500 lumens on Turbo,I would have loved at least 400 meters of throw on that mode though!!

G'day Nick, good see a torch review again. I expect this is aimed squarely at reverse grip usage for a security guard/first responder. I do like Nitecore products generally but not a lot to like on this model IMO. And if proprietary batteries aint bad enough, non replaceable is simply ludicrous !!!!!!!!! Thanks for showing it all the same, always interesting to see what's out there. Cheers Duke.

Thanks for flagging the click-through foolishness of modern led lights. Searching on AMZ for a simple 1 setting light is like looking for the grail. More isn't always better...

I think a lot of Convoys with Biscotti have a 1-mode setting, or many Sofirns or Lumintops with Anduril can also be configured for a single mode, ramping, or really however you want. Ironically, the most affordable lights in this category often have better firmware than the expensive lights.

Nick missed the anti roll facets on the light it has them everywhere, yet if you pay attention none of the pieces are timed to the others so you have random flatspots on different peices of the light in different angles in different places, and as by the end they don't work
@Jezus42

For that much I expect the the facets to line up and keep the light from rolling.
