Awesome Video, You could start a Nalstalga Match. I wanted to ask, what was the ammunition you used, I know that you cast your own, and can see that working @ the 200-300 yard stages, However, at the 500-600 that would be pretty good shooting with cast bullets. Hat's off to you if that is what you used. Great Video!! Dave.

I was Active Duty U.S. Army during 1971-1974, and we used both the Pit type targets (known to us as Known Distance Range) shooting at a simple bullseye, and at a snap shot type of range where the targets would pop-up out of "nowhere" (though often, because of previous shooters visible) similar to the profile targets you mostly shoot at. Loved the opener, but I missed to two clowns from earlier episodes.

That moving target in the last section looked like something from Greek Mythology - a "Man-headed Goat", bounding across the scenery! I half expected a thunderbolt to come down half way through and blast it! :-) Plaudits for the innovation required to make up for the lack of a "proper range" and the "Memsahib" for being a good sport.

Seems to me this presentation could be made into a shooting sport quite easily and would be a lot of fun with any military style rifle. I was dreaming of shooting this course with my AR15 and M1A while I watched. Someday when I get my '03 Springfield and M1 Garand, they would be great fun too. I need more money. Anyone giving any away out there they don't much need?

Really interesting to see how little many of the shoots have changed over more than a century. I first used the same target frames on the Classification range 25 years ago, and the practice wasn't that different for the SLR or the F88. And Senior NCO's are always everywhere...

@britishmuzzleloaders

All of it is not particularly rushed... as long as you are somewhat prepared, which the regs allow for. Distance certainly is the bigger factor and especially snaps or rapids at the longer ranges... that said, they are slower, but there is time to get it done.

That nice stocking cap at 13:40 does not appear to be an authentic bit of kit for a Highland Regiment. A knit cap I could see. But a tassel? Maybe on the moving target you could change the profile to a man wearing a pickelhaube. Although I do realize you are using the approved musketry targets or as close as possible.

A serious question britishmuzzleloaders: With the maxi balls on a Haken Missouri cal.50 percussion, so that the precision is better, it is necessary to put a small piece of cardboard between the powder and the ball? I notice that with this rifle, with round bullet and patch I'm in a C50 to 100 m. With the maxi balls rarely in and often by chance. I only put the powder and the ball, is there a small piece of cardboard between the maxi ball and the powder?
