In this video, I head to the Fens for a paddle on the River Wissey with my good friend Ginge. We head off from Stoke Ferry, loaded with dogs, a good lunch and bags of anticipation and paddle our way into a brutal headwind towards the end of the river and on down the Great Ouse to Denver Sluice. Stopping for a cooked lunch of sausages cooked on the firebox and a chance for Maggie to dry off (after an unexpected dip in the river), we pass the sugar refinery at Wissington, the village of Hilgay with its many moored cruisers and narrowboats and down to the impressive series of seven sluice gates at Denver that control the level of water in the fens.
Id like to thank Ginge again for inviting me along for another Fenland paddle, a most enjoyable day!
I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!
