I originally had the thought that "she's too good at this to be just starting out." But then I had to remember that she wasn't just doing archery and martial arts as hobbies. She was training to be an AVENGER. So it actually makes way more sense from that perspective.

Good point. Isn't it also kinda weird people are quicker to accept female characters training to be a fighter when they do it out of revenge or some kind of hatred along those lines? But when you have a character doing it out of a genuine desire to be good, that motivation is never strong enough and you need x episodes of backstory etc etc etc.

I think the Mary Sue comments are hilarious considering the show went overboard trying to show that she is anything but that. Also is there a guy term for the same thing? I think it's sexist to to throw that word around when there are more male "Sues" who match that definition and I rarely see anyone complaining. The whole "it's unrealistic fighting" is also a head scratcher since all superhero fights need a suspension from disbelief. I honestly loved the messiness/chaos of the fights. She's clearly a novice but also enjoying and scrapping her way through which reminds me of Spiderman and the sincere/playful vibes he brings to the superhero world. The show's heavily based on Matt Fraction's Hawkeye series, and as a fan of that comic run it's hilarious how Clint and Kate's roles are reversed in the show. It's so weird how ya'll see her as a Mary Sue when she struggled through the fights. Also Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Yelena are normal humans and somehow fight at super soldier level in skill. Yet no one ever questions that. It feels like theres a sort of biasedness because shes a new character and we saw her backstory as a normal girl. Gotta remember this is Marvel. and crazy super strong child soldiers and heroes exist in this world. You can be a world champion fighter in the UFC. The idea that a highly trained and skilled martial artist couldn't take a few guys by surprise, while wearing and outfit that inspires nothing but fear for them. It'd like Batman showing up to a small robbery, that bad guy is going to shit himself. Plus, she struggled greatly in this episode. P.S. You can take karate even one geared more towards self defense for years but training for it ans doing it in an irl situation is different although do overlap a bit and it showed here. Kate did decent and obviously she been training for over 10 for the bonus reasons of being inspired by a super savior she’s not perfect, she’s makes mistakes. You know, I normally love your reactions but this one was really disappointing. I mean, the whole point of Kate Bishop's introduction here is as a prodigy of Hawkeye who already has good fighting skills and is fairly good at archery, she is an above average fighter and they clearly took some liberties - like they do with all marvel movies - she's not a Mary Sue. This is like the least she needs to be capable of to fight alongside an avenger. If she's been training since she was a child, it's not unlikely that she can hold her own in a fight. Add to that, she's nowhere near the Black Widow/ Hawkeye level of fighting. I don't know what problem you guys have with this portrayal really.

The fact that he would like to do a movie or series after this exploring the west coast avengers would be amazing but I think it’s more likely that he will end up either running the Young Avengers team (so they’ll sort of mix up storylines from west coast avengers and young avengers) or he’ll take over the Thunderbolts after they fuck up their first big mission to sort of right the ship and makeup for his past sins (which would also be comic book accurate).

Considering this is two years old, I doubt you guys will even see this lol, but I just wanna say thank you for all that you do and just being fuckin NORMIES 😂 This evening was COMPLETELY aggravating AF, and I genuinely was gonna go to bed angry, but I couldn't sleep and wound up rewatching this series and y'all literally had me SOBBING 4 1/2 mins in 😭😆😭😆🤣 Spidey and Suraj have THEE most infectious laughter in the world 😆 and leave it to Marketa to create a flawless malapropism in a huge line in PUBLIC ✌️💀⚰️🤣🤣🤣 Ohhh shit my side hurts 😭😆 This shit is exactly why I became a Patreon PREMIUM Normie 😅 For the amount of joy and entertainment you guys bring to my life, it's absolutely worth supporting you for $10/mon ❤

I wish they would've shown the relationship more between clint and Wanda, cause isn't he sorta her mentor. They seemed close in aveners 2 and civil war.

LOL glad everyone else was dumbfounded by the "Mary Sue" comment, because yeah yeeeesh is it a bad remark. Everything else about the reaction was good, even Surj's cheesy jokes. was chris sick or just the ol food poisoning😭? I hope the latter, if not he could easily just be wearing a mask, they aren't just for covid

Calling her a Mary Sue is wild. I mean she clearly sucked (talented fighter obviously but it felt bad at the same time). then hawkeye arrives and wins the fight in 3 seconds. If that doesnt show a difference in experience CMON

Am I the only Marvel nerd watching a HAWKEYE story, sees a SWORD in Kate's house before seeing a guy named JACK (Jaques) with a big, twirly MOUSTACHE and immediately thought "Swordsman"? Nobody? It's just me? Okay.

I agree with everyone in the comments. Kate is not a Mary Sue. One thing I am not happy with when it comes to the normies reacting to anything is when someone has to go to the bathroom or do something, they don’t pause the movie/show. They are missing it! Pause it and just wait.
