Last year my ballet teacher taught us the doll variation then let us watch it and the bear variation after. It’s safe to say everyone (5 people including me) in my class that we’ve all watched it again at least once since. Edit: today for our last class before winter break we got to borrow our teacher’s laptop and taught ourselves the bear variation. We could watch it all we want and modify things to make it a bit easier just we had to keep the walkoff. We have determined it’s really hard and we should appreciate the bear very much. The people before us loved it before class and then said “how dare you give (teacher’s name) the idea.” I believe the people in my class just appreciate it even more

I don’t know. Baller seems like one of those things which makes the dancers suffer and sacrifice too much for the sake of entertainment if the others. It feels like the dancers are exploited.

im in ballet myself, all the dancers who audition for the nutcracker or any other show enjoy it, its never forced on anyone atleast at my studio. we love working our hardest and bestest for things like these
@audrey2498

you could say that for so many things. ballet is just another artform and career in this world. why do teachers have a job in teaching when they have to also suffer and sacrifice themselves and their time for children? it’s because they need to make a living and find comfort in working with children. why do singers go on ten flights in a month to perform at concerts? they voluntarily put themselves there and need to make a living as well. ballerinas can be exploited, but that happens rarely and only when ballerinas are pushing themselves to get a higher rank.
