I lived in Southwest Philly, went to school and worked in Northeast Philly. Up at 4:30, in bed by midnight all week. When this song came out, 'crosstown' 'cross the bridges' and 'fall fast asleep' and the fact that it was TSOP made it MY song even though I was only 15 years old! Love those O'Jays.

I remember when we use to JAM off of this song. The very first time I heard it I had to give the Philly sound its props for the band and the Ojays WORKED this song. My family and relatives in NY use to party off this song and especially "Stairway to Heaven." Now I gotta find this album in my collection. Thanks for posting.

From about 1972 to 1976 the O' Jays were the best group in the world. But because they were a soul act rather than a rock one, they never got the massive acclaim to which they were entitled. This is just one of an almost endless stream of truly brilliant records they put out.

Something about the weekend for the "working man"; knowing you have a couple days off and few dollars to spend...growing up in the 80's everybody was happy in my neighborhood...sometimes too happy; shootings, stabbings, domestic disorder, etc. but we still had way more fun weekends than bad ones...wouldn't trade those conditions for no others, because it made you appreciate simple things....now all the current generation knows or wish for is the easy life...which only weakens you in the end!!!
