Along with Orwell's 1984, ( 1949, ) and Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, ( 1953, ) many authors had warned of the danger of totalitarianism. In 24 minutes, Serling dramatically captured the evilness of censorship. Elegantly acted by Meredith and Weaver as the protagonists, this episode features Serling's best writing. His intro and outro are brimming with caution against accepting dictatorship.

Imperator Liberal the liberal arts are not the problem. In fact they are absolutely vital and necessary, even in places where you are too narrow to find them. It is the current rampant abuse of the liberal arts that must be stopped. Try to remember that before everything got out of hand, this was the model of education for hundreds of years. Even the greatest scientists had a thorough grounding in other areas like rhetoric and logic, history, classics, literature, art and philosophy. These were the disciplines that taught them not what to think but how to think. This is what we are missing now and its loss is perhaps irrecuperable.

@stolasish1184
3 жыл бұрын
And yet 80% of 18-29 year olds read at least 1 full book a year while only 69% of seniors do. Also, as someone in the education system, the idea that “problematic” books are being read less & less is false, especially when you consider that most banned books are from the opposite direction. 1984 was challenged in florida 1981 because it was “pro-communist”. Harry potter was challenged by religious communities because of ‘witchcraft & occultism’. Numerous books have been banned because of their depictions (not because of negative depictions, just depictions) of same sex relationships & lgbt themes, while the one of the only notable ‘removal’ of a book from required list of english literature ‘of mice & men’ was not banned whatsoever, but was simply passed over for better books about it’s themes without the racial slurs! Social studies, english, & in depth discussion is quintessential at least in my education in the “hyperwoke” west coast of Canada, and we actively encourage discussion & argument with teachers without a definitive answer to the author’s intent of books by design. I remember reading animal farm, and it talked about the allusions to the story of bolshevik communism but didn’t try to tell us anything deeper, instead our teacher fostered our own fucking thoughts & marked us on how well we elaborated on it and not if it was right or not! I’m kinda sick of people thinking this way about the state of literature & education right now in case you couldn’t tell, just please be mindful of other people’s circumstances. (Also i am preempting the ‘ur brainwashed’ with the fact that differing perspectives is what you’re supposed to be defending in this imaginary argument yet to come) phew ok if you read all this, have a nice day! Remember it when you hear his voice speaking out through others. Remember it when you hear a name called, a minority attacked, any blind unreasoning assault on a people or any human being. Amazing dialogue for the period in which this TV series was being aired. It gave me goosebumps. It may as well have been written in 2022 for what it states here. GREETINGS and WELCOME! Thanks for being a Friend, come to visit often, contribute often, send all your Friends to visit, please send a membership request to the Dissenter/Disinter Group, enjoy, stephen.erdmann1. Comments Stephen Erdmann: Wow! Fakebook is at it again! It says my website is violating their 'community standards' with dangerous material. Go look for yourself at WordPress/Stephen Erdmann! My reply; "Why are you censoring my website on WordPress? it is a not-for-profit site and is bland compared to the many postings on Facebook presently. There is nothing in content than is already on Facebook. I protest, as my site is acclaimed by many members. stephen.erdmann1" Actually, Facebook is wrong in their review: 1) My website is a not-for-profit site and does nothing to increase my profit, other than give free information. 2) It does not require Facebook members to 'like' or force them to 'share' any article without their personal consent, and only can they do this after reviewing it and do it voluntarily. 3) I at no time pretend to be someone else, I fully tell who I am, without disguise or deception. If deception is invoked, it must be Facebook. In reality, the two of my Word Press articles they cite as below or 'above' their Community Standards, were HAUNTING ROSWELL LEGACY and THEY WALK NEXT TO US. You can go to my site and see those articles for yourself. There are only two or three reasons why Fakebook 'hardwired' an algorithm to censor my site: 1) It is competition to them and a threat, 2) And does not line-up with some kooky, crappy algorithm, which they always refuse to give sound reasons as to why take such an illogical stance. Omar Iamone, Trex Smith and others have found this to be true; and still have no gotten clear reasons as to their banning. As I state above, their 'list of offenses,' makes a reasonable person wonder exactly what 'Community' they are striving for, certainly not one in which the 1st Amendment and our U.S Constitution can flourish.. To demonstrate their illogical operand and insanity you can still visit their 'scrubber' were it says: 1) They were wrong and they are 'putting back' the censored item ( They have not and did NOT, and have not as yet said 'when' that will happen). 2) They say they were wrong and the items DO follow their Community Standards. Yet, the scrubbing algorithm remains, in as much as I have tried posting Wordpress.. To wit: Your post is back on Facebook Yesterday We're sorry we got this wrong. We reviewed your post again and it does follow our Community Standards. I love the setup of this scene. The obscenely long table, the podium, and the usage of the microphone. All tools to make one feel powerless and make those upon them justified in their perceived stature. Sometimes we use those items to give voice and bring people together. Other times it is the exact opposite. We see this everywhere in our world today from the smallest boardroom to the podiums that powerful people speak at

That's the thing with warnings. They are often given at a time before things have got that bad, so most people don't really listen if they feel that they are living in relative comfort. The warning doesn't reflect their immediate experience. Often when things have got to the point where it is that bad the warnings are suppressed and probably won't reach most people.

"By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. Remember, O Lord, The Children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem who said, "Raze it, raze it, even to the foundation." O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed. Happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones." -Joshua Graham, Fallout New Vegas, Honest Hearts DLC. Allow me to explain, when Jesus came into the temple and saw it full of money changers, wealthy elites, power hungry narcissists and slavers, did he ask them to leave? Did he cry? Did he simply give up? No. He drove them out, he braided a whip and drove those who profane his father's temple. It's one thing to forgive a slap across the cheek, but an insult to God and the free will he gave us must, no, DEMANDS correction.
