This episode is where you can see Kirsten’s “maternal switch” flip. She’s never been put in this type of situation before because they’ve never dealt with this type of stituation with Seth. People always praise Sandy as Ryan’s parental savior, but people seem to forget that Dawn specifically said, “This way he get’s a real mom.” Then there’s the scene of her sobbing on Sandy’s shoulder as she cleaned up the pool house when Ryan left. She hadn’t specifically called him her “son” until S2, but you don’t ungly cry like that if you don’t love the kid like your own.

Exactly. Her falling in love with Ryan as her son was more significant because the love just came upon her suddenly and fiercely. I'd love to see a scene pack between them.

@@CarrotFlowers421I think they missed a lot opportunities to show their mother/son relationship throughout the series. What’s interesting is that Kirsten and Ryan actually have similar personalities.

I think she changed her mind because he protected her and she realized that he wasn't a bad kid like she thought.

This was the moment Kirsten realised what Sandy and Seth already knew: Ryan wasn’t a bad guy, he just grew up under bad cirsumstances.

The prisoner didn’t like Ryan for some odd reason even though they both had similar personalities.

@@kaij98673 I guess it wouldn’t matter who recently entered jail. That same prisoner would have treated anyone else the same way regardless of their personality. But Ryan did nothing to him to begin with, which is why I found it weird that the bald inmate came at him the way he did.

This scene is part of the hook for the series. Realistically I can't imagine the guards letting inmates move freely with visitors in the room. Surely as soon as he stood up, they would have been all over him.

I don’t know why that tough bald inmate just randomly didn’t like Ryan, especially when he did nothing to him. It seems their both toughish, so I don’t get the other guys resentment towards Ryan?

@@johnjohn-hd2dj he didn’t even know Ryan. That guy probably treated other new inmates who just came in the same way. That’s my guess, since Ryan did nothing to him.
