Hiking by the Hillsborough River where an old road used to cross it during the 1800’s. Roads to the past… Today the area is part of Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve and is a great place to explore. The modern road by Morris Bridge Park is where part of the previous route went through and over the river. I decided to follow it as far as I could in this area and it leads into some nearby hiking trails. You can sense the past here, just imagining stage coaches and horses traveling through here in those days. Some of the history here includes logging so it may have been used for that at one time. Nature reclaimed the road and it’s a very scenic place to enjoy and you never know what sort of history you may discover. Some of the activities you can enjoy here include hiking, biking, fishing and kayaking. In a growing area within Hillsborough county it remains preserved for nature and for future generations to enjoy. Enjoy the adventure and thank you!
