Absolutely phenomenal story! What a wealth of information about your family dream. I work for Historic Preservation for the State Connecticut and read the article in National Trust for Historic Preservation about Pearl High School in Tennessee and was wondering why the two paragraphs were well written with no picture. So I googled McKissack & McKissack and it brought me to this interview and was blown away!! I passed my carpenter exam years ago and my brother excelled in architectural design years ago. Such an inspiration. Continued blessings to you and your family Queen.🙏🏽📐⚒🗜🥇🏆🤗💖

Incredible interview with so many insights for black women breaking into the industry, such as myself! I’ve longed for mentorship in this industry and came across this clip featuring Cheryl McKissack. The gems dropped from all of the amazing (and RIGHT) questions asked by these two gentlemen were so valuable. From what I gathered, the grit that resonates within the company all stemmed from being consistent, determined, and confident in each of their own abilities and going after the project by speaking with the right people. Despite adversity, challenges and most importantly, being a strong unapologetic black women in this country, those before her, each made a way in their tenure and scaled the company for five generations. Very inspiring!! Thank you!

Great interview! I encountered McKissack and Pebbles on the Breafast Club. Great interview and the business chemistry was awesome. In essence, they complimented each other. This interview and the breakfast club interview held my full attention. I love how their mindset is: there's enough pie everyone. Listening to McKissack, I hear legacy and generational wealth. Moreover, helping and creating opportunities for blacks. Two parent home, mother picked up the baton and past it to the next generation is phenomenal. Definitely a book need to be made and a mini series for all to see. Kudos!
