Cutting and bulking is intermediate/advanced technique IMO. “Body recomposition” would be wise instead. If you were to eat your maintenance calories and focus on slow controlled compound movements, your body recomposition will be so gratifying. Beginners will see amazing results from counting protein, staying at maintenance calories, and sets until failure with a slow eccentric (lowering of weight) portion. Sorry for the unsolicited advice, rooting for you.

@@mahoganybookshelf3284hey, thanks for the advice i was skinny fat and I’ve been on a recomp since summer. Ive lost some fat and gained a lot of muscle. I still have a bit of fat around my belly but my main goal is muscle gain. Would you recommend I continue the recomp or start a bulk?

Cutting and bulking works. Recomposition will start seeing diminishing returns once you get to a certain lean mass. Be consistent and if your strength and mass are hitting a plateau, start bulk/cut phases. Personally Ive never cut nor bulked. My progress was hurt by inconsistency, and prioritizing getting 4 sets of ten over the quality of reps instead of reaching failure!! I’ve stopped counting reps, and started counting seconds. bout 1 on the concentric and 3 on the eccentric until failure. YOU WILL GROW if you reach failure. Meet your protein needs, train, and DONT BE IN TOO LARGE OF A CALORIE DEFICIT. That’s an easy way to lose hard work.

I started kinda the same, just with more fat, and body recomp is your best option, eat on maitance and go hard on the gyms without risking injurys, and your good to go.

I am 5'6 171 pounds (171 is my lowest) and I'm 17 years old been working out for 6 or 7 months. I eat a healthy diet, I eat roughly 1,000 calories per day but that's not recommended since it's not sustainable to eat that little, But I feel full with those Calories, When I weigh I am disappointed though, no Junk food, No Surgery drinks, And yet I am 173 to 174 pounds. My goal is 160 pounds. HOWEVER, I have been getting STRONGER at the gym. 2 weeks a go I could barley get 6 to 7 reps with 45 Dumbell press. Now I can do 45's for 10 reps! And I can overhead shoulder press 45 pounds now! So maybe it is some muscle gain as well, it will balance out though.

Easy way to add cardio is to join a running club. Riding a bike is great too! As for “reverse dieting”, simply eat what you like but monitor your weight and maintain your activity level.

Great video, I just have a one more question. What happens if there's a 1-2 week vacation during the cutting phase? We don't want to be in a calorie deficit during that time. Could it be considered as a diet break? Thanks!

Yes, treat it as a diet break. I would advise that you don’t just go full binge (especially if you’ve been dieting for a long time). Keep your activity levels high, still try to get protein and veggies but still enjoy yourself!

the main thing is controlling hunger 😭 like there be time where I am doing good on a deficit, but the urge to eat becomes so strong the more time that passes, idk... so like how many calories should I be eating per day? I guess that's my main issue

Number of calories is different for everyone. If you want to start tracking you can use a calculator to guesstimate your macros and try eating at that recommended level to see if your weight fluctuates by EOW and adjust accordingly

Super dieting tips: 1. Get between 7-8 hours of sleep, leaning more towards the higher end on gym days. 2. Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day if possible. 3. Eat at the same times every day. This really helps with cravings. 4. Drink more water. As soon as you wake up, before you sleep, before meals. Water always helps. 5. If you struggle with snacking, continue to snack. But replace your high calorie junk with fruit and veg, peanuts and almonds. If you're very Deliberate about snacking, prepare them in advance and have them at around the same time every day it helps remove the guilty feeling. 6. There will always be a certain degree of "hunger" or discomfort with not eating as much or as often in your first month. This comes with slightly increased irritability, tiredness, decrease in focus and increase in fidgeting. Be patient with yourself, practice ignoring it where you can and making it easier where you can. 7. For example, by eating closer to bedtime if you struggle to fall asleep while hungry. 8. By going for a walk after large meals. A lot of us are used to "feeling full" after a meal, which isn't always necessary since your aim is refueling your body not living like royalty. 9. Fasting in the morning rather than at night. 10. Finding a way to add your favourite dish to your diet if at all possible. You don't need cheat meals, you need sustainable dieting plans that you can continue at your new gorgeous weight.

Macros ultimately do matter but not as much as you may think. Protein intake will be a big determining factor in satiety, your ability to body recomp and retain muscle. Ratio between carbs and fats is less important
