🔸What Is Tikka Masala?
Chicken Tikka Masala is an Indian dish that’s made with chunks of tender chicken drenched in a creamy and spicy tomato based sauce.
There are many ways to make it, and we love this recipe because it is fast, easy, and flavorful.
🔸Easy Chicken Tikka Masala Main Ingredients:
Spices -
And a whole lot of ’em! You’ll use a good mix of coriander, garam masala, cumin, smoked paprika, turmeric, cardamom, cayenne, and cinnamon in this dish.
As I said before, this recipe packs a ton of flavor!
Chicken Breasts -
You’ll want to use boneless skinless breasts in this recipe.
After cooking them in a pan, you can cut them into whatever-sized chunks you’d like before adding them to the masala sauce.
Tomato Sauce - This gives the masala its delicious tomato base.
Heavy Cream -
Heavy whipping cream is fine, too, if that’s all you can find.
But half and half, light cream, and milk just won’t do.
You want this recipe to be rich and creamy!
A Large Pot - Even if you don’t fill it, I find it easiest to cook this recipe in a large pot like this one.
You want to make sure to have a large surface area to heat the sauce.
A Skillet - You’ll want to cook the chicken separately in a skillet. I like this non-stick pan for easy cooking and cleanup.
🔸How to make Delicious Chicken Tikka Masala:
In a large bowl, combine the pieces of chicken with cook cream , grated ginger(powder), garam masala, cumin, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder , and salt until well blended.
Cover and set aside for 30 minutes to overnight
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat then pour the chicken (in the marinade) into the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes stirring occasionally. The chicken will not be fully cooked at this point.
Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
Now, to the skillet, add the butter and onions. Stir and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add in the garlic.
Pour in the tomato sauce, cook cream, sugar and salt, then stir to combine.
Now, add the chicken back into the skillet, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for another 7-8 minutes or until the sauce is starting to thicken and the chicken is fully cooked.
Stir regularly while this cooks.
Serve your chicken tikka masala over rice with your favorite vegetables and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro over the top!
