I would do it slightly different, start in Christchurch and follow your route to Queenstown, then head to the West Coast, and follow that up to Marlborough and on to the ferry. The West Coast imo is the best place in the country.

I live in Paihia ,and the best beaches are in Doubtless Bay or the white sands further north .Paihia has the Bay of Islands to explore and Waitangi treaty grounds where all our history began ,including Polynesian site on one the islands in the Bay .I've being luckily enough to hear about a new possible earliest site for human settlement for New Zealand in Doubtless bay .Kerikeri is the new retirement village area for New Zealand ,and only has the Stone store basin .you really didn't explore the Bay of islands if you thought Kerikeri was more mentionable 😅 Cape Reinga and the light house is the place all spirts of the Maori people have to go to before they can go back to their ancestral home islands in the pacific ,a most important place. Being there many time's and I still find it haunting. There is a lone Pohutukawa tree growing where the spirts leave that's never being seen to flower at all .

In NZ a flexible route is the best, especially when you want to hit all those special spots. Oh, and maybe separate the two islands so that they can be appreciated properly 🤠

On your map Te Anua ? I think you meant Te Anau gateway to Milford Sound as in T e (egg sound) A for Aunt sound. N au (o sound). Mount Aoraki is the Māori name for Mount Cook.

I was born and raised here in Aotearoa New Zealand. I know of no other country as a resident, just a visitor. I'm yet to experience any other country, perhaps Rarotonga-maybe Samoa, that I would care to be a resident. If I was much younger then that would be different, after all, the world belongs to the young.

Sand types. Black sand is mainly volcanic and white sand comes from Coral and from sea shells ground down fine over thousands, likely millions of years. Grey sand common in New Zealand is Graywacke; a variety of impure sandstones, and generally characterized by its hardness & dark gray colour. NB Graywacke is pronounced; gray as the colour shade, wacke as in wack, to hit and ke as key to unlock a door. I hope this helps. Kia Ora Mai.

The white sands up north came from the the Waikato river which had ash deposits flowing into it when the Waikato river flowed out into the Hauraki gulf up to 22thousand years ago. 22thousand years ago Volcanic eruption/s at lake Taupo breached the carter/lake edge ,causing The Waikato river to change cause to it's present day flowing out into the west coast now adding sand material onto that coast ,along with Taranaki's material creating black sands (This has happened many times before over time ,the previous time was 88thousand years ago ) .Long shore drift has sifted/sorted the sands grains ,so today the finest silicate rich particles now make the white sands up in the far north .Cable bay in Doubtless bay area up north but south of the white sands has orange sands created by sea shells .We have no coral sands up north as there are no coral reefs ,like you would find in the islands or off Queensland Australia . There is a scenic flight to the Cape ,where you can see where the White sands begin ,since the Waikato river no longer flows into the Hauraki gulf ,no more silicate particles has being added for 22thoudsand years ,and now the sand is created by the rock material weathering down along the coast of northland ,which is mainly sand stones and graywacke .Northland's foundation rock is tilted upwards on the east coast exposed .The breach that changed the Waikato can still being seen today and also old flow directions of the Waikato can also be seen in the landscape .

A few suggested corrections on pronunciation: Taronga is a zoo in Sydney. Also, it's Te Anau, not Te "Anua". And you mention "Mt Manganui" but presumably meant Maunganui, then Coro-MAN-del, not Coroman-DELLE.
