A study method for people who dont have ppl to study with: 1. Study using ur notes for lets say 30 minutes (30 minute break) 2. Take the practice exam 3. When you finish it grade it like how your professor would 4. Find all the mistakes you made in each questions (30 minute break) 5. Finish studying the mistakes and review the things you did correct too (Having relaxing music helps too)

I love how you give a lot of breaks. You could also use a schedule with the 97531 method. Basically nine days before the test exam you repeat the study technique. Then you repeat this study plan on day seven ontofive on day one and finally the day before the test. If you have more time you could do this by week. I wanted to mention as additional method as sometimes reviewing every day may be hard due to people schedules. But I still think it is important to review often and I think the schedule is great in regards to how many breaks are good luck hope this can help someone

I believe that's called pseudo working and it's not a good study method.
@viola1066
Жыл бұрын
@@sequinjin8332it's actually a really good method, because the human brain typically isn't able to fully concentrate for longer than 15-20 mins. So if you take a break after 20 minutes your brain can 'reset' in the next 20 mins and you're able to study way more effectively in the for the next 20 min session than if you studied for 60 min straight.
@sequinjin8332

@@viola1066 I'm not talking about the video, I'm talking about the comment. The video is a very good study method but the person in the comment said they did an intensive 8 hour study session rather than studying in fragments and taking time off. So yeah, I agree with you. A study session should never be that long because that implies you're doing it on a time crunch and at the last minute rather than doing just a few hours a day spread out. 8 at once is too long and doesn't do much for the brain, aka pseudo-working. Maybe like 2-3 hours a few days a week rather than one super long session.
@OxidizedNail
Жыл бұрын
What’s interesting is that 20 minute working session then break is great! However, it can’t be a long break where you totally become distracted and lose focus. Really the optimal break is around 5 minutes, then 20-30 minutes working, then repeat.

The Pomodoro technique is 20 minute intervals of productiveness, followed by a brief 5-minute break. After four consecutive Pomodoros, take a 30-minute break. This is the method I use and it works for me. I think her method of 20 minutes on/20 minutes off would make me feel unproductive, but if it’s working for her and her friends, who am I to judge? We all have different needs, so just because it doesn’t work for me doesn’t mean that’s true for others.
@sirrooster1541

@@IndieCindy3 Yeah, I never personally liked the pomodoro thing, but to me, doing something for as long as you aren't just seems really unproductive. Taking any break at all makes me unproductive; the second I take a break, I lose my focus and "flow". Idk if anyone else relates to this, but I always get stuck in a bad mindset when studying (especially for writing). Like, when I start an essay I’m just like "well, I need to get the entire thing done rn or else I didn’t really do anything" instead of having the mindset of working on it piece by piece. Then I always just end up frantically getting it done at the last second 😭
@Whoknows-mf1cv
Жыл бұрын
That’s called an all or nothing mindset or black and white thinking. I deal with that too and what helps me is to estimate how long each assignment/reading should take and then split it into 15 minute chunks, I call them shifts. After that I organize my shifts so that there is a good amount of time between each one. For example: History takes an hour to study for, French takes 45 minutes, Psychology takes 30 minutes. I alternate in this order: History, French, Psych, History, French, Psych, History, French, History. With this method I don’t get too tired out on one thing to the point I do nothing else. It helps me at least get started on some things. It also means I can easily take a break when I need to. I usually take a 15 minute break every 45 minutes. I still sometimes don’t finish the remaining amount until the last minute but having to do 75% of it last minute instead of 100% is very helpful.

Okay so I get that it helps with studying but what happens when you're in the workforce and you have to do this all day long? Are you going to take 20 minute breaks? How are you ever going to work a few hours solid on something?

I actually use this website a lot! I use sometimes the fireplace ones but most of the time since I’m an ARMY and a BLINK, I use the K-pop study lives and I put on a timer for 20 minutes and I take a break for 15 minutes like a long break just playing a game or reading a book (I BEG of u to NEVER EVER use ur phone to scroll through insta, TikTok or yt shorts PLS it will rlly make u procrastinated and distracted)

the study habit that helped me get straight 1.00 (its the highest grade in my country) grades and also be exempted from final examinations, is not being too stressed if i dont get the right answers the first time in lectures and short pop quizzes but learn from mistakes. Also prioritize on sleep but not too much, just enough that you will not feel to exhausted for the next day and also taking notes during lectures and reading it when i get home because as much as we would not want to admit it but CONSTANT RECALL is key for FAMILIARIZATION AND MEMORIZATION.

Yeah I think it’s supposed to be a 5 minute break but I’m not sure, she did call it the “long break timer” so I guess there’s different settings?

Love this tactic. I used to do this when I was in college as well. I would also meet up with 2 of my classmates and go over did we didn't understand 2-3 times a week. The buddy system definitely helps. Keep it up!😊
