soldiers are trained in point shooting, this is also used in speed shooting competitions. It is when you shoot without looking down the iron sights. humans (soldiers even more-so) have a surprising ability to hit targets accurately without the use of iron sights

true - and there's merit to that but because vr guns are the weight of your controllers you might aswell get up to your optic very fast

I would say the time this makes sense to use is if you're running a magnified optic at close range. Otherwise, using the sights will get you better results.

Don’t get down on it because you can easily be good at VR shooters! A lot of the playerbase of the games are in the same boat as you so if you do even something small to get ahead like being able to bring up your gun consistently you are going to roll those lobbies!

@@tea.edits.ae. Hey man - thanks for the encouraging words. I played WarZone a bunch back when it came out and did manage to develop the gun skills fairly well there, so I get the progression track of the muscle memory. A lot of the stuff in newer games like Showdown comes down to the multitasking and dexterity of e.g. the vending machine and health mechanics which has gotten more complicating - watching vids of really skilled players in the game shows how much there is to develop there. Anyway I totally enjoy the experience and especially the generally good natured interactions we're all having no matter where we are on the skill ladder.

Coming from Onward- alot of the best players are well past what would normally be considered "prime". While having aim and good mechanical skills is definitely important, in games like Onward it's usually the team play and tactical positioning that wins games. It might be different in faster paced games though.

It’s faster aiming your gun up rather than turning before, it is situational though and if you need to turn to flick then practicing keeping your gun harmonic to your body does help from what I’ve found.

You don’t always need to calibrate it just make sure it’s fairly straight for most of the guns and practice with your favourite guns. It’s why I like the ProTube though because it’s fully modular.

If you turn vstock off the difference is huge, I can't remember which is which but one should feel like other shooters and one doesn't, and I would recommend the one that does feel like other shooters.

Im curious about your opinion on this.. Personally, I find that keeping alot of tension in my shoulders actually helps alot for flicks, and even helps keep my aim steady for sniping. It helps tighten things up and lets me make accurate, discreet adjustment to my aim. When I ask others who play competitively they mostly don't report doing the same. What do you think?
@Ashley-1917
2 ай бұрын
I think it has to do with the fact that when you aim, you tend to also raise your shoulders to help support your arms and lock in the horizontal movement. By keeping my shoulders raised at all times, it removes a step in aiming and can help with consistency. It's sort of like leaning back in advance of a pitch when batting in baseball.
@tea.edits.ae.

@@Ashley-1917 I aim tense, I've seen lots of very loose free flowing, slower aiming players but ultimately it comes down to your body. I feel like sometimes when you are tense you get micro shakes but you keep a lot of control in aim in a sense.

Do you guys close one eye!? I have this issue i always close my right eye
@tea.edits.ae.
5 ай бұрын
I don’t close any eye, what I recommend is you try and brute force it with two eyes open, it’s technically easier to aim in VR than in real life because your lenses are very slightly offset from your eyes so you don’t have perception issues. I’d recommend aiming with your dominant eye (i.e left handed = left, right handed = right) by positioning the gun correctly rather than tilting it and that should train your eyes to work with both open. Using holographic sights helps like the EXPS3 or the Vortex one for example (one with a dot and ring) as it helps you sight in quicker and you can get used to it.
@Ashley-1917
2 ай бұрын
Definitely keep your eyes open. Because of the way VR lenses work, you want to have your "non-aiming" eye on the target to help you see the detail that would otherwise be obscured by lense warping. Also by keeping both eyes open you will have much better situational awareness. By closing one eye, you are blocking off an entire half of your vision, which is important to have to keep track of multiple targets. Also by having only one eye open, the gun itself might obscure the target area in ways you don't want. By keeping the other eye open, you can have a better view of the target, even below the barrel of your gun.

I assume this doesn't work on the quest 3 due to the camera being unable to see the hand at your chin? It seems to float about after a second. Or is it just me?

Nm. Just saw your post responding to someone else, unfortunately it does not work with all headsets, like the quest. I'm positive you specifically are capable of kicking ass regardless of the inability to do the chin touch.

@@Subfightr yes you are right, a lot of quest 3 ability comes from being able to react with speed, but to also keep both hands as still as possible. Stock can mitigate this but Quest 3 has the worst tracking so be aware. If you want to play stock I'd actually recommend the Quest 2, but it is possible to play well on any headset. Hope that clears it up, sorry for the late reply. :)

very cool video. One thing I cannot agree with. The tilt of the handles on your stock dont termine your speed. I recently am rocking uni mk 2 witch there is only one. but i added an ability to tilt my handles omnidirectional, so i can have them like i want them. I prefer fast paste games. I do DM/TDM in pavlov so i focus on speed. I discarded the cheek rest just for that reason. on mk1 i had the handles set to one position. Not very good but the 30 degree seem to be a very good spot. But mk1 is a history and I know how important is to tilt those controllers for comfort of usage. and to fit some guns in some cases. (contractors pump action...)Anyway i dont have the controllers that low. I tried just for fun. my magnets are different than the protubes but honestly its for the better. it does have the same style (bottom mountet magnetic) so they can be campared. the setup has to be comfortable and able to support the speeds that will be taking. thats why only magnets are no good, but thatr is a different story. Here i just want to say, its better to set the handles tothe most comfortable (and still aligned with the VR gun) position. it might be that you prefer to hold stuff for longer while having the vertical poosition on the front hand, but its not a rule. i am having it at some weird angle that is not existing in real life, that is a result of my arm naturally being in that spot. i hope im making sense here. i got in between of the two types of gun holders. there are some fotos on my discord, also a different story. great vid. VR content creators Lets GO! :)
@tea.edits.ae.

I don't think it matters as much what your alignment actually is, all I can recommend is to pick a setup that is ergonomic for flick up tech i.e natural muscle tense pull up so you can react last second when you need it the most. It doesn't entirely matter unless you are a complete aim nerd who plays no lifes league play.
@UFJoy

@@tea.edits.ae. as long as the stock is aligned with the gun, user should be good.
