We restored this MCM tallboy dresser and this is how you can do it too👇
1. Apply a generous amount of stripper one surface at a time
2. Wait ~10 minutes, then do a test scrape to see if it’s ready. If the old finish is coming up easily, scrape the whole surface. If not, wait a little longer. You may want to put plastic wrap to cover it for really stubborn finishes.
3. I rub lacquer thinner on with 0 steel wool to dissolve as much residue as I can. Wait until dry
4. Sand with 150 grit to get rid of the rest. Be careful around the edges if you’re working with veneer!
5. Since this is walnut, I won’t be staining it today. Instead, I will use clear danish oil (tung oil w/ polyurethane) to protect it as well as bring out the natural colour and grain pattern.
6. Voila! ✨
