It could be heritable, does you parents or grandparents have myopia/hyperopia/astigmatism? Also bad conditions during work can contribute, for example, a lot of near work (closer than 30 cm), with dim lights. Make sure you use your smartfone, tablet, laptop, also writing, knitting etc at least 30-40 cm from your face, with nice light (for a room 200 sq ft at least 3-4 LED bulbs 10 W each), don`t do it in darkness. Also try to have breaks during near work, at least 5 min each hour.

Look, I'm not at all medically educated in any field whatosever, BUT I have done a heck of a lot of varied disciplines of construction work. I've known people who've seen people die instantly and violently, I've seen fingers almost sheared clean off by diamond-grit concrete hand saws, I've seen people happily jack-hammering away standing in clouds and breathing amongst extremely toxic silica particulate matter. Safety. First. I will repeat for the peanut gallery: SAFETY. FIRST. It is NOT the time you crack dumbass jokes, it is a serious real thing. Put on the god damn safety glasses, I don't care if they're fogging up or they are scratched up and you can't see, then your employer has to deal with the situation! Hand you a new fresh pair! PPE is the LOWEST tier of safety, it's the -LAST RESORT- of broad safety measures. You absolutely must wear all of your safety gear when it is appropriate for whatever specific work you are doing. Honestly? Construction workers broadly should look like half-neon cyborgs with all the ear muffs and respirators they should be equipped with, but so often they're not. Anyone who says something, even jokingly, like "Safety Third" and promotes this unsafe work culture? You should understand that person to be buddy-buddy with Mr. Private Equity. And we alllllllllll know what PE is like. Frankly, after Ortho recover's with Dr. Glauc's help (Not to mention Jonathan), there should be a charity boxing event held where Private Equity gets paired up against Ortho. We can't like Dr. Mike be the only doc who everyone knows can throw hands. :D

Best way to make sure it doesn’t go flying is to throw a towel over the cork and clamp your thumb down on it.
