W800 street, the old school style one of my favourite
@dougfielding8215

The W800 is my favorite. It is truer to the 60's and 70's British bikes who were not water cooled. Although with many modern features such as the use of a slipper clutch, LED lighting, fuel injection and large disc brakes front and back rather than drum brakes. I got my W800 with Oxford heated grips. I also recommend Heat Demons grip warmers. Makes riding in Canada even more pleasant. I call my Kawasaki "The Foothills Flier"

It doesn't matter who makes the standard bike first and who imitates whose original design. Kawasaki has making quality and reliable bikes for decades. These Japanese bikes are easy to use and easy to service with low cost. They are designed for user-friendly and convenient daily use in mind with no hassle and lame.

@@Guy-ns1hk What about the Hinckley Triumphs? Do they have character? Is it Thai in nature? The original W's were built by Kawasaki under licence from BSA. Been a serious amount of evolution since, still being built by the same company, so arguably the W's come with more heritage than a Hinckley Triumph, because they have absolutely no link to the company whose name they bear. Character, the easier way to excuse poor build quality, oil leaks and electrical issues.

Yes, a return to sensible styling, where hopefully we can say goodbye to the current run of Japanese models that have their arse pointing at the sky and a gap between the rear guard and tyre that an inexperienced operator could fly a drone through. Oh and on some models, the rear tail light and number plate appears as an afterthought, held in place by a couple of steel rods. Some idiot volunteered rope, until it was pointed out that it would only flap around in the slipstream and may not be legal...

After carefully comparing the features on the W800 Street to those of the Triumph T100, Speed twin Royal Enfield and Guzzi V7 I bought the Kawasaki. No, it's not cheap but worth it to me. P.S. I agree with you Hsu Sam, I really like the looks of the Street. The satin paint accentuates the carefully chosen chrome parts.

Only truly iconic if you'd have retained the style of the 2011 and 2016 models. Bright chrome and stunning metallic gloss paint. A classic example of what I speak of can be found over on the right at the side bar. Scroll down to *"show more"* , then scroll down further to the video put up by *Motovore* , titled *First look: Kawasaki W800* . Here you'll find a fine example of the W800 as it should look. Far and away a whole lot easier to clean and to keep clean, then Matt paint and black enamel. Not to take away from the performance of the above examples, but not all riders are into that minimalist blacked out look. To their credit though, they have at least retained the chrome pipes and mufflers. *Kawasaki Motors, please take note:* , where is the 2019 model variant that follows the style of those earlier 2011 to 2016 models?. You do the general public a great disservice by not keeping/making that variant available. You will lose customers to the Triumph Bonnevilles 100 and 120, and the recently introduced Royal Enfield Interceptor, which if all the reviews have it right, it's one cool and smooth riding motorcycle. Would love to receive some feedback from you guys (Kawasaki), in regard to this. To everyone else, ride to stay safe...

I am happy that the W is coming back to the states, but I fear they will be repeating the same failure that the 650W had. It was too under powered and over priced to compete in the American market against the Triumph. I Have been wanting the W800 to come here for a while, But we now have multiple retros to choose from in this price point and all more powerful. Because it is a BSA clone,I am guessing the w800 cafe's main competition is the Street Cup which is still 127cc larger but it is also $701 more.Then of course there is also the Z900RS cafe which is the 48cc higher then the Street Cup but $1,200 more . In fact probably the closes bike is the H-D Street Rod(made in India) but the W800 is still 23cc's larger and $1,100 more. Though I am sure it will sell much better, But who knows? We will have to wait for the comparison reviews and how well it sell at the end of the first year
