Great channel. I started an EBay store a few months ago doing the same thing. I don’t see myself as a flipper I’m just the middle man. I buy cheap cards and sell them to people who don’t want to go to a card show and look through boxes for hours to find a card under $5-10. I provide that part and make some extra money to buy cards I like to collect. It’s also enjoyable and I see many cards I wouldn’t have seen before. Keep up the good work I enjoy your channel.

Thank you for the kind words, Michael! That's a really good way to put it - being a middle man rather than a flipper. Your concept of being able to provide cards for those who don't really want to spend time going through boxes is a great way to put it as well. These are my thoughts also when I think about my customer base. People who don't have access to card shows, people who only collect certain players, teams, etc. People who are trying to build out a set. These are the cards I tend to look for when I go through boxes as well. Understanding that there are people who don't have access to certain card shops/shows is a great way to source for cards as well. Great points sir! And thank you for watching, I am glad you are finding value in the channel!

How much are you making though on a $1.99 card free shipping after shipping and fees
@JoshUnboxed824
Жыл бұрын
Honestly it's not really much. It really depends on what price I'm getting the cards at. If I buy a card at $0.25 and sell it at $1.99, I'm probably making about $0.50 per card - which is a 200% ROI, but in terms of dollar amounts its not much. For most people, it may not be worth the time or effort to do this. It really comes down to volume and selling a bunch of them. Same concept goes for when offering free shipping... the hope is to entice buyers to buy more than 1 card in a single order - this will help save on shipping and fees as well. When I look for cards, the cards that I buy really depend on what price the seller is selling them at... if the cards are listed as $1 a piece, then I'm looking for cards that I can sell at $2.99 or more ($2.49 at the lowest). If they are listed at $0.25 a piece, then I'm picking cards that I can sell at $1.99 or more ($1.49 at the lowest). Not really for everyone as it does take up a lot of time. This is something I do part time and something I really love doing despite the profits being minimal. It's a labor of love in a hobby that I love. I currently work a 9-5 job that pays well and one that I absolutely enjoy. So this is mainly a side hustle to help generate an additional income to help fund my collection. I work with a very limited budget for my hobbies and this helps me be able to still collect.

How are you able to make a profit offering free shipping??
@JoshUnboxed824
Жыл бұрын
While true that offering free shipping really cuts down on the profit margins and sometimes I even take losses because I offer free shipping. My main reasoning as to why I offer free shipping is to entice buyers to buy more than 1 card in a single order. This helps me save money on both fees and shipping. For me, it's about making it simple for the buyer to buy multiple cards without the hassle of trying to calculate the cost of shipping per card, to go through contacting the seller for a shipping discount. Sure I can put a shipping discount on my items when I list them, but would rather not spend the time putting that feature in and would rather use that time to list more cards. It really comes down to what I'm buying my cards at... if I pay $1 per card, I'm looking for cards that can sell at $2.99 or more ($2.49 at the lowest). If I'm buying cards at $0.25 a piece, then I look for all cards I can sell at $1.99 a piece ($1.49 at the lowest). The idea is to sell in volume. But honestly, it does take a lot of work for such small profits, but it you increased the scale then it really adds up. However, since I only do this part time to help fund my collection, I'm really looking for large gains, but a consistent stream of additional income to help fund my collection.

@Wax Pack if you got the card for free, sure, but if you subtract the cost of the card when you bought it, it's not as easy as it seems to make a profit with free shipping on a $2 card

I still do a manual process for listing, but I have a bunch of templates set up so that I can just plug in what card I'm selling and fill in the item specifics. I use my iphone and a lightnbox for taking pictures I upload them with my phone. I still have a very small operation which is why I don't use a feed scanner yet (although I did look at the Fijitsu scanner that Burbank Sports Cards uses, but they are around $1000 per scanner). Currently I only list 20 cards a day which is manageable with my current manual listing process. I will consider using a scanner and possibly those listing tools such as Kronzio once I start expanding, but for now I'm sticking with my 20 cards a day - as I only do this part time. Thanks for the question!

Thanks Christopher! I would love to do some long form content, but just really don't have the time to do so. But sometime in the near future I may do one! And thank you for the suggestion on making a video on how to ship in bulk. I have done a video on how I ship cards through plain white envelopes, but I didn't really go into depth about how I ship bulk orders. Definitely a topic on my list of future videos!

Hey, nice work 👍👍👍. What do you do about the shipping?. Because not a lot of people will pay $10 for a card and $4 or $5 for shipping. You just use an envelope? Good luck with the channel 👍💪

Thanks for the comment! I ship my lower end cards through plain white envelopes. Anything that sells under $20 goes through that route for me. The reason why I started to go that route is exactly what you mentioned. I've also made some previous videos in the past in regards to shipping through this method. Thank you sir! Not to insult anyone, but I don't really like taking free items from the viewers. I prefer to just provide the content and comments. I've seen it all too many times especially in the video game youtube content creator scene where the content creators take advantage of their audience and get free items from them. I'd rather not do that to my audience. Thank you for the offer though, but I will politely decline.

I have a small card store in Arkansas. If you had a bunch of commons you just wanted to donate or get rid of little kids that come in I give them a bag of them for free each time. I'm taking a box of them to the local children's hospital for christmas too. You can email me from my channel about me page

Hi Hushroom, currently I am not looking to buy more cards as of yet. I just recently bought a bunch of cards over this past weekend and am still going through them. I usually only buy enough cards to fulfill my weekly listing goals which is 140 cards per week. Thanks for the offer though, but I will have to politely decline at this moment.

During this time of the economy, people tend to spend less money on frivolous things and sports cards definitely fall into that category. Low end sports cards provide a cheap way for people to still collect without having to spend so much money on cards. I would say it's an affordable option for those who still want to just collect. Honestly, I only spend enough each week to cover my number of listings per week which is 140 cards. I will only try to spend about $100 a week on inventory. It is a down market right now in sports cards and all collectibles. I do this as a side hustle to help generate funds to be able to add items to my collection without having to spend so much of my hard earned money from my usual 9-5 as that goes to the various bills and my needs for my family. It's how I work with a budget. But people can definitely choose how to spend their money and just opt to save. No problem with that.
