Super (not at all) fun fact: cobalt is an incredibly essential mineral that can be found in almost all of our modern day technology! Because of its incredibly high demand yet with extremely dangerous mining conditions, it is one the highest in value natural resources. The Democratic Republic of Congo 🇨🇩 has the largest amount of cobalt in comparison to the rest of the world, and yet despite being the richest region in terms of the actual mineral itself, economically it is considered a “developing country.” The people of the DRC are being exploited for cobalt mining and have been for over a decade, in what is being referred to as The Silent Genocide due to how little it is known or talked about by people outside of the DRC. Learning about the origin of the name for Cobalt makes this information sink in even deeper. I hope everyone who sees this comment will look into this information further and share it widely! 🇨🇩🇨🇩
@YAWSSSSSS

Side note there is currently a humanitarian crisis is the Congo over the mining of cobalt leading to displacement, labor exploitation (basically slavery), and life altering injuries to the exploited miners. Cobalt nowadays is valuable not because of paint/its vibrant blues but because this raw material can be used to make electronics. Two thirds of all cobalt within the global supply chain has come from the Congo. Please be mindful of your electronics. Try to repair and use electronics until they're unusable if possible and recycle any electronics at the proper disposal sites. Recycling can be a way to reduce the world market's dependency on a fresh supply of raw cobalt from the Congo (plus that would lower green house gas emissions). #freethecongo

What they don't know is that when they all meet their horrible deaths they will meet the man in person and death changes to best suit the person. some examples is that one of my players views death as something people shouldn't fear as it helps us appreciate the life we have, they will be meet with the critic, seen in a gallery full of paintings depicting moments in their life. His suit a lovely Paris green (chosen cause of how prominent that one was in the art world). another is playing a military veteran and has a considerable kill count and now tries to block the thought of death from their mind, their version of death is the dealmaker, hunched over in a tattered mummy brown suit (due to how it was made with dead bodies), he's pissed that after all they achieved together you would simply try to forget him. I got 4 other players but I'll make these quicker. The Judge in Naples yellow with wings of copper in the shape of scales. The doctor in lead white itching to begin. The fantasy a pair of eyes in the forest, surrounded by a London purple colored smog. and last the friend, sitting on a bench in a lovely Vermillion red suit. all the same being who views my player very differently.

I always have to giggle when words like these pop up. Instead of the "Wyvern are dragons" discord- we have "Kobold are goblins". It's so neat to see the evolution of representation of folklore.

Cobalt = Kobalt (the metal, sometimes spelled Cobalt in German as well) Kobold = leprechaun or goblin What happened is that the miners called the metal Kobold; because they thought that evil mountain spirits (=Kobold) would steal silver from the mines and leave the toxic metal (we now know as cobalt) behind, which is why they called it Kobold. And over time Kobold changed into Kobalt.

I’m so glad! I’m sure you look amazing. :) I do have to admit that I did my makeup super fast today, so my eyeliner was uneven- which makes my eyes look much more asymmetrical than they are😂 (I believe that everyone has slightly asymmetrical eyes- look at any celebrity picture and you’ll see it!). However, I’m still really happy for you, keep that confidence with you! I am missing one of the muscles in my right eye, which limits my peripheral vision. My husband was born without one of the muscles in one of his eyelids. We all have different quirks and physical differences- that’s what makes us more rounded, interesting people. Embrace ‘em! 💜

Sounds like a backhanded compliment sprinkled with "you inspire me uwu" as a disguise. I had to rewatch the video because I paid more attention to its actual topic instead of the appearance of the creator, and yet I still didn't notice the asymmetry. Don't comment on people's looks until they specifically ask you to. It's generally a bad taste and just tactless. You never know who's struggling with what.

@@Yawyna124 as far as rock are concerned I agree they can have a smell, but metals normally can't have a smell because they aren't volatile at all meaning there's nothing to go in your nose and smell, though the smell could be from rocks around the cobalt not the cobalt itself

@@xjskndalfkcks6693This is true when a metal is in its stable solid state, but not when it’s being smelted. Some metals can produce an odor when they are heated to their liquid state. But with Cobalt, the reason that it was thought of as smelly is because it is found predominantly in a chemically combined form. When smelted, it gives off fumes containing arsenic 😅
