Thirty years ago, this was one of the most modern arenas in the world. With its 180 luxury suites on the lower levels. Now it is a pile of rubble.

The Bradley Center in Milwaukee was the same way. I remember when both got introduced in the 80's. Hell, the Milwaukee Arena is still being used to this very day. The Bradley Center was imploded too.

@@marka.graffakasnakebitenat3736 Actually, only the roof of the Bradley Center was imploded. The rest was torn down piece by piece as the the Bradley Center was too close to Fiserv Forum to implode. Live in the Milwaukee area and went to the Bradley Center for Bucks games. It was a concrete canyon and quite ugly, and had no abliity to modern upgrades (it was a give from the Pettit family) in the late 80s. But I'll tell you this. If you get a chance to visit Milwaukee, sometime after we get through this damn COVID pandemic. You'll be surprised how beautiful Fiserv Forum really is.

I went to so many concerts and games at the Palace. In seconds it is gone. Like J. L. Hudson’s in Detroit that you imploded. We grew up shopping there and Christmas was amazing as a Child. Last in College I worked for the construction company building North Park Plaza a rusty looking building. If memory serves me that building had post tension cables in the concrete floor. Your videos show the engineering effort to destruct and implode a structure. You have a super smart team and your videos are amazing. My background is construction engineering. Steel and concrete have a life cycle. The structure may look beautiful except saving it beyond its lifespan is difficult. Thank you

Never understood why the Palace was abandoned. Bill Davidson, the original owner, had spent nearly 10 million dollars to update the facility before he died. I was in the building for a concert in 2019. It looked almost brand new. The demolition of the Palace left Oakland County without a year-round venue. Just stupid, in my opinion.

I always have questions about these CDI videos. What was the line of splash across the water at the bottom when the blast sequence started ? Det cord going to subsequent charges or maybe cutting tension elements at the bottom of the structure ? Glad to see comments turned on.
@ke6gwf
4 жыл бұрын
Det cord. These types of jobs will use non electric Det systems, so all the delays are pyrotechnic in nature, using timed Det cord, delay lines, etc. It looked like they had a plank across the water with the det cord on it. The initial set of explosions are the timing devices taking the signal from the det cord and after a millisecond delay firing the delay lines. The delay lines run to the detonators, which then have an internal delay fuse, before the charge goes off. So you hear the zipper of the of all the det cords and delay line initiators and delays going off, and then a pause while the delay fuses burn, and then you hear a second zipper of the charges going off. It's done this way so that all the detonators are activated before any charges go off, otherwise flying debris is likely to cut the delay lines and you don't get a full shot, which is very dangerous, having unexploded charges.
@wdwerker

Thanks ! Makes perfect sense, live explosives in a debris pile could cause serious injuries to the men and machines clearing it out.
@TheNamesArif

they're basically a line of fuse but more explosive and instant.They just lay it down across the water that's why you saw that splash
