Henry Akins is referred to as one of the best-kept secrets in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a "Jiu-Jitsu Super Computer" for his knowledge and analysis of the art. This mini-documentary explores what drives Henry, the circumstances that led him to where he is today, and how his life has been transformed by Mixed Martial Arts.
Henry moved to Los Angeles after high-school solely to begin training at the Rickson Gracie Academy. There are not many people who have had as much time training with Rickson Gracie who is widely regarded as the greatest Jiu-Jitsu practitioner ever. At the time Henry received his blackbelt from Rickson, he was one of the few Americans to receive that honor. Henry's understanding of the underlying principles, philosophies and foundation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is what separates him from most other instructors in the world. Henry feels blessed to have this knowledge and has dedicated his life to passing it down to all who are willing to learn hopefully preserving the dying art of pure Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as taught to him by the master.
